Schools aren't exactly in the habit of listing injury reports ...

Nice catch -
http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll ... 90364/1036Mooney sidelined: Vanderbilt's Jessica Mooney had to leave the game with 4:03 remaining after twisting her right knee. The former Hillsboro star had been a key in helping the Commodores pull away from Delaware State in a stretch when they outscored the Lady Hornets 14-4 to take a 57-44 lead.
Mooney, whose 3-pointer at the end of the first half to give Vandy a 28-24 lead, finished with six points, two rebounds and a blocked shot. She will be evaluated by the medical staff today.

Looks like I'm not the only one that thinks we have a good shot. From an ESPN chat:
Glenn (Morris Plains, NJ): Putting you on the spot...what's your game of the day pick for tonight and tuesday and what is your upset special for both days as well?
Graham Hays: (12:24 PM ET ) My game of the day is Middle Tennessee-Marist, because I think it's always a good thing to get non-BCS teams in the mix in the Sweet 16, and this guarantees we'll have one. But I'm also interested to see how Arizona State bounces back from a poor showing (but a great rally) against UC Riverside in the first round.
Graham Hays: (12:25 PM ET ) As for upsets, I'd say Bowling Green and Iowa State are the best bets. Iowa State is in trouble if they go cold from outside, but they've been playing really well.

And THAT would really screw up their defense...Jacobs4Heisman wrote:That's huge if she's out or less that 100%. She was the leader on defense and the only one really getting after it on the perimeter. This would weaken their perimeter defense a great deal.
Rah rah ree, kick her in the knee...

Thats not entirely true. Did anyone see how easily Carla Thomas #50 got everything and anything she wanted inside? She's 6'3 and can move. She's the biggest inside threat by far even more than the 6'4 Liz Sherwood. #34 Christina Wirth is an extremely deadly 6'1 3pt shooter. She's has the lightest nonchalant shooting stroke that I've ever seen. We'll need to D her up big time. We'll have to score alot of pts tomorrow for us to possibly win. Vandy isn't as quick or athletic as far their starting 5 goes but they have more weapons than Ok St. by leaps and bounds.[/b]Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Vandy didn't impress me one bit. They're big, but not athletic inside. We can't try to front them though. That's what killed DSU.

Carla Thomas is awkward as Hell. She got everything she wanted because DSU kept fronting her for no reason with little weak side support. Neither of their towers are anywhere near the big UCLA girls that ripped us up inside last year.falconboy wrote:Thats not entirely true. I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but I do agree that she was one of the players that I noticed when watching the Vandy game. She'll be a threat, but I'm not too terribly worried. We've been able to shut down plenty of solid 3 pt shooters this season, and while most of them were from the MAC and not the SEC, we've still been pretty effective at it.falconboy wrote:#34 Christina Wirth is an extremely deadly 6'1 3pt shooter. Taking Wirth lightly is big mistake my friend. Wirth looked like a girl that shoots in the 50's percentage wise from 3 land. The inside out game of Carla Thomas and Wirth could be our bane if we don't cover them extremley well. Thomas will have to be double or triple teamed tight and fast , but not by any one guarding Wirth if she's in the game. I'm jacked though as ever as we take on another fantastic challange.Peregrinner wrote:I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but I do agree that she was one of the players that I noticed when watching the Vandy game.
