It's Been a Long Time
When's the last time a BG team, men's or women's, exceeded our expectations?

Yeah... but is that a reflection on the teams or the fans??

Yeah...I get your point. But expectations from fans are almost always unrealistic. That's why we call them fans.
For me, I thought this team would win a first round game and take their legacy to the next level. Making the Sweet Sixteen has surpassed my expectations. I didn't epect us to dominate a top 10 team from one of the power conferences that had just won the leagur tournament.
Did the win totally surprise me? No. It's clear that this team can play with anyone in the country. But "competing with" on this level and "winning" on this level are two different things.
The football wins at Purdue and Missouri and the basketball win at Virginia Tech were great but those didn't feel like this. I wasn't on a big stage because the national media spotlight wasn't shining on those wins. Plus, those didn't have near the pressure that the NCAA Tournament brings with it's "one and done" status.
I guess the point I was making is that it has been along time since I felt this good about a BG team...men or women's. Even more so that the football bowl wins.

That was some quick backpedaling, Rollo.

After what they did in 2004-2005 as sophmores, I thought that team would win the MAC and go to the NCAA Tournament last year. Now, running the table oin the MAc...that is quite an accomplishment because it is so hard to do. I wouldn't say they exceeded my epectations last year. We all were expecting a lot from them.
Just like this year. I expected them to win the MAC and get to the NCAAs and win a first round game. Last night went just icing on the cake.

Then that answers the question about your expectations. Last year I did not expect us to go undefeated in conference. This year I did, and I expected us to make a tourney run.Rollo83 wrote:After what they did in 2004-2005 as sophmores, I thought that team would win the MAC and go to the NCAA Tournament last year. They've exceeded my expectations each of the last 4 years.
