You are right...I couldn't help myself from overreacting though.Bleeding Orange wrote:Wow. That totally sucks. Not just for Toledo, but for the MAC and the NCAA as well. I wouldn't relish in this too much, folks.

Honestly, I'm surprised there aren't more scandals like this in the MAC, the Sun Belt, etc.TG1996 wrote:You forgot aBleeding Orange wrote:Wow. That totally sucks. Not just for Toledo, but for the MAC and the NCAA as well. I wouldn't relish in this too much, folks.there, Ace.
I'm a little hesitant about the "investigating if other schools may have been involved", but for now, it's Toledo, and I will laugh.

There. I laughed.
Vegas posts lines, creating certain incentives -- and some of our programs are so far off the national radar screen, loaded with players who are an awful long way from the NBA or the NFL, etc.
I am not ready to assume point shaving has never occurred here in our neck of the woods.
That's not an accusation. I just think it would be easier get away with in Bowling Green, Ohio or DeKalb, Ill, than it would be in, say, Evanston, Ill.

Lets get back to something that matters about this. Is there any chance that such a mess as this could lead to the NCAA taking back some of the games, titles, or bowl wins they have, because of something like this? Could there be NCAA probation of some kind for an event like that? Loss of future scheduled games, etc?

I'd say probation and/or fines would be the most likely to affect the university should anything come out of this. Individual players could be suspended to some extent, but taking records away from the school would depend on the severity of what is uncovered.NWLB wrote:Lets get back to something that matters about this. It's made its way to the FOXSports.com front page, as well as MSN.com (via FOX).

Probably not the publicity UT wanted as spring practice opens.

Norm mentioned on 1470 this afternoon that he has sources indicating that the investigation actually goes back to 2003.
Damn...just damn. I feel bad for their fans. This kind of thing leaves you with a black eye for a long time. I'm not sure how much longer we're going to see Toledo Tom on the sideline.

I wonder just how many athletes are involved with this at UT. It's disturbing that the entire MAC is under suspicion. This will be nothing but bad for everybody. We all like Toledo to suffer some misfortune now and then, but if our chief rival gets anything even remotely deathpenaltyish, it will hurt us as well.
This just sucks for everybody. Way to go, Gary.
