If he does I am sure he has already taken "Begging for your job back 101" from Dakich.

Woah, woah, woah...Since it seems like "Dakich-bashing" is the norm right now, I'm going to take a different approach. No one EVER said that Dakich begged for his job back, not even Dan Cummins at WTOL. THAT was a huge misunderstanding. Dakich did not beg for his job back. Just like Altman didn't beg for his job back at Creighton. There are HUGE differences when you go from a Mid-Major to a Big Ten, Big East or SEC. At a school like BG or Creighton a coach gets a lot more say in things than in a big conference. When it comes to Big conferences Boosters have WAY too much say as to what happens and that is why people like Dakich and Altman changed their minds and returned to the schools where they had been successful. Let me put this to you...if you had a job that you liked but found a job that looked better so you took it and found out that even though it's a few more thousand bucks a year, but you realize that now you're taking orders from a jackass. If the job you left is willing to take you back, wouldn't you go? So look, if you want to bash Dakich for two bad years, fine but remember the good years before he got the ego-maniacs on his team.

I remember the years before the defection. I sat in Anderson Arena and watched BG men's basketball BEFORE he got here. He had more than two bad years, it was 5. The same number of years he has been here since the defection. Actually, after a little research, it will have been 5 years to the day on April 4, 2002 since he was renamed head men's basketball coach. You can talk about what did or did not happen in regards to his being hired back but unless you were in the room when it happened we are all just speculating. My previous post was meant as tongue in cheek but must not have been taken as such. Talk about the ego-maniacs all anyone wants, but he is one who recruited and signed them to scholarships. You all know my stance on this issue. Dan Dakich is a good coach, but not the right coach for BG. In my opinion, and it can differ from person to person, he is no better than Urban Meyer. The day he left for dollar signs and then wanted to return when the grass was not the color of green he thought it would be is the day he showed his true colors for BG as far as I am concerned. Every day since then I have attended men's basketball games and supported the TEAM, not the coach. I am looking forward to watching a new era of BG men's basketball unfold.

I don't believe Dakcih begged for his job back. If I recall, he contacted Krebs about what he perceived to be possible infractions. Krebs offered him the chance to return to BGSU.VDub26Falcon wrote:No one EVER said that Dakich begged for his job back, not even Dan Cummins at WTOL.
But I do believe the little WTOL geek in a blazer and blue jeans said Dakich begged for his job back.

Whoever that is, but Dan Cummins still insists it was Denny Schafer who dissed Dakich.transfer2BGSU wrote:I don't believe Dakcih begged for his job back. The day Dakich opened his Monday presser with a profanity-laced tirade at the poor WTOL guy that was there, for what Cummins said on-air, was a great freaking day.
Cummins sucks, and I told him so with a mini-football I chucked at him when he was on-air for the BG-UT game in '05.
