Supposedly the AD wanted him to fire an assistant or two and Orr refused.

If the press conference is indeed today, some first-hand accounts and observations would be greatly appreciated. This is big!

"The Orr Floor"?

Does it come with green eggs and ham? :-D

I didn't know much about Orr until the past couple weeks, but I like it, too. Though hopefully he does a better job than his predecessor at SHU.

I told you guys this two weeks ago and told you Heath would be at South Florida when you were discussing him. Unlike 95% of this board that just slings bulls**t, I speak in truth and facts. I told you guys last night there would be a release on Thursday. Pop, Pop, Pop! Thats corks popping in all the MAC coaching offices.

this is true. Also, he got a ton of heat from the alumni because of his laid back nature. Seems that alumni at BCS conference schools carry a bit too much weight. Alumni issues are what led Tubby to bail on Kentucky.

I hate this! This is horrible! This will set the program back 50 years! We should have hired an assistant from a D III school! No way this will work! Players are quitting already! I am never buying season tickets again! The only thing worse is the new football helmet logo!

I just thought someone should post a dissenting view on this hire. Not everyone should be happy about it.

Anywho, I'm glad we have a coach that has coached before at a head coach level in college. I think he will do fine. I just wonder if he likes cheeseburgers?

I think this is a mediocre hire and I'm not impressed at all. I see 3-4 more years of .500 ball with Orr at the helm. I am not "psyched" and am actually pretty disappointed with this hire. I don't see Orr coming in and making an impact like a Oppenheimer or one of the OSU assistants. Oh well, I'm used to it by now.

I'm a KSU fan, but I have known LO indirectly for a very long time and have followed his career since he went to Withrow HS in Cincy.
He is a class guy, smart, knowledgeable about the game, and he will get the talent to BGSU. The Big East is a meat grinder. The expectations at Seton Hall were way out of line with the resources, and he was fired because the AD decided he wanted to run the program.
Their stupidity is your good fortune.
Louis Orr is instantly one of the best 2-3 coaches in the conference. You will see his mark next year and after that, I believe you will contend in the East on an annual basis.
The Falcons are back.
Bad news for Miami, Ohio U, and Akron in the future battles for 2nd place.

I don't know much about Coach Orr, but I'm glad that we've got it settled. I hope he can recruit here, and I hope we see something on offense. I love the fact that he's a former big man, because one of the things that always irritated me over the past few years was how we wouldn't feed the post.

Hopefully he can get us a legit PG though. I don't think Roy Williams or Coach K could succeed here with the PGs we've had in the last 5 years.
