I appologize in advance to RF for this, but I couldn't help it:

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

Scooter talked the bassist into missing a few key notes that brought total sales in under the spread of 750,000 units sold.

In today's Blade, Scooter McDougle's attorney says none of it is true:

James Burdick sounds like a fairly expensive attorney. I wonder how Scooter can afford him.

Okay, so maybe he did nothing wrong, but ask yourself one thing. How does a young African-American kid from East Cleveland Ohio become friends with a 50 year old professional gambler of Iraqi dissent from the Detroit area?

Yeah, that happens every day.

Didn't Scooter admit to taking a bunch of "things of value" from Gary?

That's what is weird. No one has actually talked to Scooter, so all we know is that the affadavit says that Scooter admitted to taking things. Now Scooter's lawyer is saying that the affadavit is not true.

Sorry, but even as a huge die-hard Rocket fan I have a hard time believing scooter's attorney. I guess we will just have to wait and see though. I also didn't realize that he hadn't been indicted by a grand jury yet, not that an indictment should be too hard to get or anything.

Jacobs4Heisman wrote:To be honest, RF -- even though you said very explicitly that you think Toledo should be punished harshly should the facts come out like most of us think they will, the general tone of a lot of your posts sound like "Yeah, Toledo's in trouble, but look how many other people are doing it too!".

There's a strange dichotomy to what you've been posting. With one breath you;re very harsh towards UT, and with the next, it sounds like you're defending them because "everyone else is doing it too". The defensive attitude, real or imagined, is what some are reacting to.

I think I'd probably be going through a lot of the same internal conflict you are if BG were in this situation.

I see what you are saying, but that is not my intent. The reason I have said that it appears to be happening often out there is because it really is, and that is also why I feel that any player and the University should be punished more severely. Maybe doing that will help to deter some kids from doing the same thing that may have already done it or thought about doing it and so forth.

I'm sorry if anyone is taking my tone that way, but it is awfully hard to get a feel for somebody's tone from a post on a message board. It's probably more of a grouping me as a UT fan then actually reading a tone off of my post. We should all be reminded here that they student-athletes are our future and this is about helping them and influencing them to do the right thing. It should not be about Toledo, Bowling Green, who's a better school and who's better at football, or anything like that.

In one of my interviews with Clint Cochran last year he told me something that really sums up what it is all about. He was talking about how important academics are and he said "after all that is why we are all here."

Unfortunately some don't feel that way and are only "here" as a way to try to get to the NFL, but Clint is right. Academics is the reason that those student-athletes are here. They are here to get a college degree and position themselves for their future. I don't care which University it is at and I don't care if they are the star football player or the 4th string bench warmer. And if helping these kids stay on the right path means the NCAA comes down hard to make an example, which I believe is needed, then that is what we should do.

It’s not a tone, it’s not intent, it’s not brown colored glasses, it’s not a rivalry bias towards you or any other narcissistic excuse you want to create, it’s words and paragraphs. You still don’t understand the accusations. Re-read your 8th grade girl response (above, not the sissy post prior), particularly paragraph one sentence two, and see if you can break through the comprehension problem. Stay positive and concentrate. Don’t get distracted with weddings, academics, and help from others. You can do it!

Yeah, RF. Stop making little girl posts. Start making tough guy posts. Say stuff like "Scooter "wait til dey see my fat azz back in da hood" McDoodle" like Maquisard. Show that you know what its like in "da hood". Don't worry that it comes across as racist. What's important is that you don't post like a "sissy" because that might come across as "gay" and then you'd be like the new Falcon logo. Attack other poster's manhood to show you're a tough guy at the peak of your maturity. As a UT fan i'm incredibly disappointed in your street cred, man!

Hey RocketFootball, do you have any word on what has become of Scooter himself through all of this?

A friend at UT said she hasn't seen him in a class they have together since the fecal matter hit the fan (not that I'd go to class either in his shoes). One of The Blade articles also said that he isn't allowed to be in contact with his family. I can't imagine staying at whatever UT residence he holds is too appealing right now, either. Any idea?
Finally a senior!

My understanding is that Scooter is under considerable distress and is currently vacationing at an undisclosed location in Nevada with 100 of his closest friends. Actually, it appears that he has moved out of the house he and some others rented and is flying well below the radar.

Was that the punch-line or the set-up?
