The Stars Must Be Aligned
Maybe I am speeking too soon, and I will admit if I am. We have not had a player leave the team since the season has been over. Bland left the team before the season ended, and since we havn't even heard rumors of anyone leaving. Any Thoughts?

If anyone was thinking about leaving they would probably wait to see who the coach would be, what his style of play is and how they fit into the system. Now they know so if anyone is leaving it will be over the next few weeks. My guess is you'll have very few losses, if any. I could see a couple of lesser talents leaving to drop down a division, maybe, but most will stick around

Agreed, and I think the annual rituals of player exodus and 2-man senior classes are behind us.orangeandbrown wrote:I am cautiously optimistic that we will keep everyone. I think Orr's style will be compatible with their skills.
You win championships at our level with experienced and talented upperclassmen, particularly seniors, and I'm excited to see what can happen with some continuity and maturation in the roster.
Especially the fact that he gets at least two years with the bulk of the current roster.JoeFalcon wrote:You win championships at our level with experienced and talented upperclassmen, particularly seniors, and I'm excited to see what can happen with some continuity and maturation in the roster.

Did Bland actually leave the program? I was under the impression that he had sit out a few games for academic reasons.commonsense wrote:Maybe I am speeking too soon, and I will admit if I am. It was in a Maureen column or blog post after Orr's hiring that Bland was gone.BleedOrange wrote:Did Bland actually leave the program? I was under the impression that he had sit out a few games for academic reasons.

Considering Dusan didn't like DD, and DD made his time at BG miserable. I would say yes. Dusan tried to quit early in the school year, he was begged back for reputation purposes. If Dusan quit it would be because his experience was bad, and DD was his experience. Many players just did not put up with the nonsense, seen by how we lost three strait recruiting classes 2002, 2003, 2004 except Lefeld. Now, it is time to move on.cowboyjoe wrote:Dusan is rumored to be leaving...if he does will everyone still blame Dakich? Sheesh!!

The guy made Corey Ryan look like Larry Bird.
That Dusan saw any playing time at all in D1 was b/c he played for DD, who fetishizes undertalented players. There's no good reason to expect Dusan to see the floor under Orr. For Dusan's sake, he should realize this and go somewhere like Findley or Defiance.
If Dusan leaves, Orr will have 4 scholarships to give this spring.
