Actually, no. He hasn't committed because he wants to go to a major and nobody wants him yet (Miami is his hope).

Maybe a couple of the other Illinois kids might be available.

I don't profess to be an expert on these things but I do follow recruiting to a limited degree. Here is my take on what can likely happen to the two or three slots BG currently has left for 07 recruits. Scout has shown Antonio Topps of Chicago and James Davis from Columbus Lindon McKinley as having medium interest in BG for a long time. That was under the old regime and one would think the interest may have waned on both parties parts. Still could happen, however, if Lamonta Stone remains on staff. I am assuming that Orr will likely go where he is comfortable and that would either be in the Cinci area or with recruits that were interested in either Xavier or Syracuse but which ultimately did not get signed. Trouble is there are only two such players left from those schools' listings. One is a 5'11" PG from Dematha High School named Jeff Peterson and the other is a rail thin forward 6'7" Jamon Samuels from the DC area. I'd rate Peterson a possibility if the Xavier connections hold up. However, the likely outcome will be one or two JUCOs that will be able to step in and shore up what Orr perceives as the biggest holes in the lineups. Who that will be I have no idea. Maybe someone like Option or one of the other gurus has a better idea.

I would imagine that Orr is contacting a lot of guys that hadn't been contacted by BG to this point. Van Campen and Rivals probably won't be of much help and we won't have any idea who the next Falcons will be until the official announcement. He's probably contacting every high school coach that he knows from NJ to Chicago looking for kids that are still open or are recent qualifiers. Also, I'd expect him to be relying on Stone heavily to fill at least one of the remaining 2, 3, or 4 remaining scholarships.

(Do we know for sure that Dusan is leaving and that Guerin will get a scholarship?)

No, we don't know on either. Coach said on the radio that he has two scholarships, for what that is worth.

One hour east of BG, at Norwalk High School, There's a 6'11" junior with some skills. He's a bit raw yet, but definitely could be a force in the middle. Kyle Smith is his name I believe. Somebody's gotta get the Coach to get a hold of him! Erik Marschall might even know him, since New London is about 20 minutes from there.

It's funny, I've scoured many a message board over the past few days and the overwhelming consensus on why Orr fell out of favor with their AD was his desire to recruit the Midwest at the expense of the hallowed tri-state region, which irked the locals and the SH fan base. He was the point man in the area for both Xavier and Syracuse.

That lone "problem"-too much recruiting in the Midwest-is a huge asset when you're the new head coach of Bowling Green.

They also say that in addition to his extensive Ohio connections, his teaching, scouting and floor coaching are all top of the line.

I am a bit rusty on Ohio recruiting having spent most of the last 9 months in the Bluegrass State, but I can tell you that there is plenty of talent to go around down there and of what I know about Ohio.

From what I'm told, Georgetown, which won D-4 and is just a county or two over from Cincinnati had a very very solid point guard and a low post (undersized) big man that served the "law and order" role on the glass. The post player would be too small for BG, but the point guard was said to have real potential and led the only undefeated team in Ohio for the entire season.

Speaking of state champions and point guards. One I did see is from Kentucky state champion Scott County, Matt Walls. Had early offers from some big boys but according to him kept his focus on winning the state title and those offers filled up. He basically starting his recruitment all over again and was looking at Morehead and Eastern Kentucky and would be an absolute steal for them. Tubby had agreed to give him an invitation as a preferred-walk on at UK before he took off.

Kentucky runner-up Ballard, from the Ville, has three players looking to go D-1. Twany Beckam is reportedly locked up with IUPUI but is said to be looking. He's a point guard in the 6-4 to 6-5 range. Not a great shooter, but a solid floor general. Teammate Johanne Hamilton is a lightning quick 6-1 guard that put on a show in one of three games that we saw in particular, when he got loose on a fast break and reversed tomahawked one. I'm not sure there's anyone that Louis has that is athletic enough for that. No word on where Hamilton is looking. The third is going to be tough to make D-1. He's a Jerome Tillman clone, but a bit shorter at 6-3 to 6-4. Gholsby is his name and he's built like a middle linebacker but has serious athleticism. Hamilton threw a lob and Gholsby dunked in it the regionals downtown. Coach Renner at Ballard has won a state championship before and played in the championship game this year, so they have been well coached.

It will be interesting to see where Coach Orr goes with the open scholarships. Word over at JJHuddle is that Cincy Withrow's HS coach has resigned to take an asst. job with Coach Orr at BG. Having that kind of knowledge with coaches in SW Ohio is invaluable. This has always been a weak area for us in the previous 10 years and Withrow is a legit power program.

He was Chris Knight's HS coach, right? That would have to make him feel more comfortable and keep his grades and such in order, I'd think...

Walt McBride is not the guy's name that BG got. I'll look it up later, but can't get to it right now. Maybe he's a former Withrow coach, but he had been at SH with Coach Orr before Withrow.

George Jackson.....

What if...I was just looking at that Withrow roster and Yancey Gates would be an absolute get for BG. We would have to take him from the Big Boys.....I would hope Coach Orr would atleast try. That could be a program changing get.
