This is one side of the story: Jody's. I'm positive there is another.HoustonFalcon wrote:If the girl you are talking about is from Akron, I know that is one that is not on the team right now. Jody told me at the final four that she had a kid that she had kicked off, and wasn't going to sign a transfer release for her if she wanted to go to another MAC school. BUT, she accused Jody of saying a bunch of stuff that was never said, and in fact was the opposite. Jody told me she didn't care where the kid was going to go after that, even if it was a MAC school. I would be careful of who the transfer is. I didn't get names from Jody, but I do know that we have to be careful with all of the excitement.
We could have some BIG transfer news coming soon

Very easy to pass up a sophomore averaging 16 ppg if they're going to be a disruptive force in your locker room their junior and senior years.bg_bball wrote:While I understand being cautious with a "questional" character, it's hard to pass on 16 ppg as a sophomore.

And if the staff thinks that is going to be the case, I'm sure they will indeed pass.transfer2BGSU wrote:Very easy to pass up a sophomore averaging 16 ppg if they're going to be a disruptive force in your locker room their junior and senior years.bg_bball wrote:While I understand being cautious with a "questional" character, it's hard to pass on 16 ppg as a sophomore.

Transfer.....
I wouldn't get real excited in the least with a transfer from a fellow Mac school. A Big East , SEC, Big Ten , B12 extera , would. Could this be possibly cuz of Jazz jumping ship? I always wondered what our schollie situation was with that.

I can honestly say that it is very easy to pass on someone that might come in and average 16 a game. Lockerroom chemistry is the most important thing on a team, and to bring in someone that you know is questionable, that isn't good. Not everyone is going to get along, but in those rare instances, you get it. I had it this year with my team, and it was amazing to see the difference in the play of everyone. There wasn't any jealousy with anyone, they all like to hang out together when they aren't on the floor, and everyone is usually happy. And I can say that it's going to be hard for all of the freshman to come in and get along with everyone with this next BG team. BUT, they are freshman and have a chance to develop new friendships. Bringing a transfer that you're not sure on is different. She has been to college and you can see what she has done and how she has acted.

You can take a player with some question marks like that on team with strong leadership. We really had that last year...I think we will this year. The captain(s) lay down the law...you follow it or you're frozen out.
My favorite story in this vein concerned Mark Aguirre joining the Pistons back in 1990. His first day in Detroit Isiah Thomas and Laimbeer took him out to dinner and explained that the crap he had pulled in Dallas wouldn't go in Detroit and that he'd be expected to move the ball, stay in the offense and work on defense if he wanted to be a part of the team.
He said "OK" and they won a title.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

There is a article in the blade today talking about Nikki McCoy and she is looking at us ohio and Division 2 school cause she would be able to play right away. We were going after her when she was in HS and she said she would only come to BG if Coach Miller was still here. Which he will be cause there is a story also about him signing a new contract. So i don't think she would be causeing any probs here if she did transfer cause she wants to win the MAC and play in the NCAA and knows she would have a great shot at doing it here.

She will visit Ohio this weekend. She is also looking at Findlay -- which strikes me as a good sign, it may indicate she wants to be a little closer to Sylvania this time around.

It will be interesting to see what we pay Miller. The Blade doesn't know, yet.

Here's a blog by an Akron writer on McCoy.

I think it's meant to slam McCoy and he is a Zips fan. Maybe McCoy wants to win and compete for titles? If she isn't happy, go elsewhere. Happens all the time in collegiate sports. McCoy can score and with all our SR's gone, we'll need to find replacements. She has experience as well. Hopefully she's leaving on good terms and, if she ends up in a Falcon uni, isn't a problem player.theziggies wrote:Here's a blog by an Akron writer on McCoy.

I think that's exactly it, WWBFAN. She played right away as a Freshman at UA.WWBFAN wrote:Why wasn't she a Falcon in the first place? She had the best school right in her back yard. Maybe she didn't think she would play with all our power seniors, and chose somewhere that she would play.......but now that the seniors are gone, she wants to jump on the band wagon. I hope she's worth it!

If she comes to BG, hopefully she "plays well with others" and doesn't think she's not going to have to earn her spot on our team. We might have a ton of incoming freshmen, but we also have six VERY talented 100% TRUE BLUE (or orange!) FALCONS FROM THE START coming back. Any transfer, no matter who, will have to work extra hard to beat out any of our kids for a spot.

Yets not forget that if McCoy does transfer here she won't be playing in the 07-08 season, you guys are talking like she would be able to play this upcoming seasonWWBFAN wrote:If she comes to BG, hopefully she "plays well with others" and doesn't think she's not going to have to earn her spot on our team.
