Great news for Curt and BG.

Of course some people might yell at me, but I thought I would break this here. UK Coach Mickie DeMoss is reported to be resigning this morning. Press conference at 9:30. If Curt were to leave for any school I'd like it to be UK. He would hands down be Mitch Barnharts (AD) best hire, easily topping Rich Brooks and Billy Clyde. DeMoss had a contract through 2011 at 350K/yr.

I have heard from a fairly reliable source that this extension will make Curt the highest paid coach at BG.

Well deserved and this is fantastic news.

Congrats Curt!

Bowling Green State University Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Greg Christopher has announced that women's basketball coach and National Coach of the Year finalist Curt Miller will receive a restructured six-year contract (thru 2013) that will pay him a base salary of $160,124, the highest of any Falcon coach.

Hopefully the university sweetened his bonus structure and greatly increased his buyout.

With that extra 124$, looks like Curt should be paying for dinner when the basketball coach's get together.

I do like the raise, I didn't want BG just to match BSU's contract with their coach. But making him the highest paid coach at BG is a good motivation for the other coaches. Get your butts and gear and win championships, and you will get raises.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Roller still makes more at Ball State. :x

CONGRATS COACH MILLER!!! FOUR PEAT!!! Kudos to GC for getting this done quickly. For the naysayers about GC, so far I'd have to say he's done well bringing in Louis Orr for the men and getting Coach Miller a much deserved pay raise. I've got a great feeling about both women's and men's hoops for the future.

This was from the article on BGSUfalcons.com as well.
"This move, plus other new resources devoted to the program, is meant to show our commitment to women's basketball at BGSU," said Christopher."
I wonder what these "other new resources" are? It sounds like they have been specified for women's basketball. Could we have a new major donor? If so this will go a long way to helping keep this staff together as long as possible. I was hoping to hear what the assistants would be making as well. All in all this is a great move by BG and shows a strong commitment to programs that succeed on a consistent basis. Hopefully success will bread success in other areas of the athletic department as well. I see a bright orange future for BG athletics and I like it. :D

I agree. The most successful coaches need to be paid the most...no matter what sport.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find that article in my RSS inbox. Congrats Curt and thank you GChris for stepping up and making the most successful BG coach the highest paid BG coach.

I wonder if falconboy collected all that change people were throwing around for that $124. Or maybe it was $62 and the university decided to match it! :D
