Page impressions: 1,729,953

Wow... 1.7 Million page views in 6 months... that TOTALLY boggles my mind....

Thanks everyone!

Does that translate into enough $$$$ to run the site????

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I just kind of stumbled into the Google AdSense reports this afternoon... We've been on the program for almost 1 full year now (started in on 4/20/06). I'm staggered by some of these numbers!

Since the inception there have been 3,993,504 AdSense ad's displayed on ay-ziggy-zoomba.com. Of those 3,993,504, people have clicked on one 754 times.

The busiest day thus far was March 21, 2007, which had 25,990 ads displayed. To contrast that, the slowest day (not including the first partial day) was June 17 of '06 with only 2,494 views.

Average daily views is 11,187.

Just thought those were some cool numbers to share!

I've had AdSense since November, and have gained $.03.

I shall assume A-Z-Z.com is doing better.

We don't AdSense much, but where we do, it's VERY productive!

I’ve been running Ad Sense and tried Ad Words for most of my non-personal sites, MACsportsFans, FalconGames, and especially RCIfan.com and now CruiseAficionados.com.

But it really has been the cruise sites that are really doing well, relative to the number of visits. The click-through rate has consistently been between 1.8% and 3%. When the visits to the site pushed above 150 unique visitors per day, I noticed the pay per click doubled, and above 200 visitors, it jumped over the cost of a pair of national newspapers.

Curiously the click/response rate of 2% about matches direct mail responses I’m familiar with. I think having a site which is found and viewed by people with an active interest in taking cruise vacations helps the click-through rate. Plus there is a large pool of people that want to advertise on sites like my own.

Ad Words is really where I learned the most about how the entire system works. I’ve learned enough to get a job doing this kind of thing, were I to want too. The system is smooth, and effective. During the experiments I ran, I could roughly double traffic to a site at a modest expense. With more practice I could likely get the flow of traffic in and clicks through, to pay for themselves.

Tactics seem to be everything with Ad Words. If you Google Cruise Travel, or Royal Caribbean, you get a ton of ads along the side, each one of those paying a few dollars for that ad to be there, if you click on it. The further down the lit you go, the less they are paying, and eventually you get to the ads that are being paid for by the 1000s of impressions, not clicks made.

But, what I did, was target more specific things. I ran ads for RCIfan.com, paid by 1000 impressions, for search terms like Cruise Critic.com, Royal Caribbean Blogs, etc. Off beat terms, which nobody uses. Since Ad Words is auction based, you get listed based on what you want to pay. Over time, your ads stop running because the cost goes up. How and if the cost comes down, I don’t know

What I’m working on now, is blocking domains using the impression model. I know a few domains are really getting tons of impressions at little cost. I want the ads people are clicking on. In as far as that goes, I’ve heard Yahoo does better. But yahoo has a third of Googles marketshare.
