Maybe he's in the witness protection program. I'm not sure where you'd hide a guy named Scooter with criminal charges against him....Dick Cheney's house perhaps?

Given Scooter's UUniversity of Toledo (partial) education he might be in the witless protection program...

Since this is about UT, it's fun to rip. But for the sake of the league, I hope this thing is 100% cleared up one way or the other before the season starts.

After the season kicks off, all Midwestern and national attention on the MAC should be about on-field performance, not scandal.

A friend at UT said she hasn't seen him in a class they have together since the fecal matter hit the fan (not that I'd go to class either in his shoes). Scooter's been in contact with his family and has told them that he is still in school. As of last Thursday he was still enrolled in classes.

The FBI arrested him on Friday morning (a week and a half ago, not this past Friday) and then charged him. They took possession of his cell phone and did not allow him to talk to anyone, including his family, until Saturday afternoon. His family found out about the whole thing when his high school coach called them Friday evening and told them what he just heard on ESPN. I feel bad for his family because they got a call from his position coach Friday afternoon wanting to know if they knew why he didn't show up for practice, and they might have been starting to wonder if something happened to him and he was missing. You would think the FBI would allow him to make one call to his family to expain where he is, not make him wait for a day and a half and have his family wondering. What if the news wouldn't have been out and his family never heard about the FBI thing Friday evening? That night they go to sleep wondering where he is and if he is safe or even alive still.

That said, this case gets stranger and stranger by the minute. And some in the media are starting to pick up with this and ask why he was intially interrogated in December of 2006 and not charged until a little over a week ago and still no indictment by a grand jury a week and a half after the charge? It's looking more and more like he did some things that were wrong, but the FBI is using him to go after this Gary guy.

Ever hear of the Patriot Act and the gutting of habeas corpus? Nothing this government does surprises me. Especially when wire-tapping and a former Iraqi resident are involved.

How does Amstutz know if the point shaving case is limited to one "isolated" player. The University has been instructed by the federales to stay out of the matter until further notice. For all Amstutz knows, half the team is involved.

It's diffciult not to imagine alcohol being part of an equation that includes firearms, 4:30 am and a possible attempt to violently"end" a dispute within running distance of a police substation
