Turner was a WAYYY too slow in reading defenses last year and his accuracy on anything more than 5 yards downfield was poor as well. It was his 3rd year in the system and he still looked like he was lost at times with what we were trying to do. The playcalling was suspect, to be sure, but the coaching staff was still the same one that had a good offense for the previous 4-5 years, and I really think the reason we saw such a different scheme last year was because they had no faith in the QB play.

I hope Turner grows a lot this year, but I'm just not holding my breath. I'm not convinced he has what it takes mentally to play the position.

That said, the passing game is a 2 way street and our WRs really need to actually get open downfield, and catch the balls that are thrown to them.

This offense requires top notch QB play and they have to be in sync with the WRs. Last year we didn't get either, and the offense was pathetic. Hopefully this year, no matter who plays QB we'll see an improvement on offense.

I think everyone would agree with that, yet it doesn't square with anything he said.

He said Hargrove was starting in the middle. He also said that Dozier had been playing in the middle in the Spring. He said Hargrove was out. My guess is Dozier just moved over for the time being becuase Hargrove is out.

I don't know what Sheehan can do with a little game experience under his belt. That's why I am anxious to see what he has got.

I do know that Turner has been less than impressive and never seemed to get better. You look for steady progress from a young quarterback and I never saw that in Turner. He'd show flashes in half of one game and then have three bad games in a row.

If he still makes the same mistakes in Spring ball and Fall camp, I think you go with the younger guy in my opinion.

Whoever gets the ball, we need to stick with him unless he's terrible or he gets hurt. No more of this pansy-ass 2-QB junk.

I was firmly in the Turner camp before last year and through a lot of his struggles. If he hasn't improved, I don't think he'll be the best choice. He showed some flashes and ended up with decent numbers, but he was unbelievably inconsistent and inaccurate at times, while making mind-numbing decisions for a third-year guy. The playcalling absolutely tied his hands, and his receiving corps wasn't the greatest. Having said that, I saw receivers running free as the ball missed by ten yards countless times. That shouldn't happen with all the easy throws our system affords a QB.

Basically, I hope he made a very big leap this offseason, or else I hope we go with one of the youngins to try and develop.

I'm pretty confident saying AT is the guy. He's the best athlete of the group, and it was pretty amazing seeing how he took the team on his shoulders and let the team to a victory over Buffalo and a shoulda-been victory over Akron, in both cases coming from behind and playing like a true leader when called upon. If he can be that leader the whole game though, which I think he can, he is gonna have a monster breakout season.

This is the absolute truth. There is nothing to mess with the ever important QB/WR chemistry, as well as a locker room, like flip-flopping on the QB's. When you have 2, you may as well have none.

Right on it! Really was playing well towards the end that Buffalo game and the Toledo game.

AT began to come on late last year....look at the first TD he threw to CP in the UT game. (AT, TD, CP, UT?...I'm too lazy to use words?). He rolled one way, rolled back the other and threw a rope to the side of the end zone that either Corey or no one was going to catch . Neither Josh nor Omar could have made that play any better than Turner did.

The physical tools are definitely there. He needs to be a tad quicker in his reads and he needs to settle his feet down. He dances around back there a lot even when he isn't under pressure. If he would settle down and step through his throws, his accuracy would improve greatly.

Suprised we haven't had much discussion about Mahone's move to LB. That tells me two things...they are very happy with Brown and Sanderson manning the safeties and they want to figure out a way to get PJ on the field.

Mahone moving to LB probably also means he's bigger now. He was not all that big of a safety and didn't often get real good hits, especially on P.J. Hill, but if he's gotten bigger and become a better tackler he could be real good. He seemed to normally be at the right place defensively and our linebackers could use that instinct to stop the run so he may do real well there.

Good post, Flip. I still think AT is the man but he's gotta produce NOW...he's been in the program too long and, IMO, this is it for him as a starter. J5 went thru the same things as a Frosh and early SO year. I do wanna see how Sheehan has come along and get a look at Glaud.

I thing the staff is trying to figure out how to get PJ on the field. Brown and Sanderson did quite well last year, IMO. Sure there were some big plays but they are gonna be solid for the next few years.

Sat can't get here soon enough.

mahone's case is pretty simple, he was the starter until he got hurt last year and brown came in and did a great job as a freshmen and solidified his place there. brown got the chance and made the most out of it, especially in the ohio state game. it seems to me mahone has the body to get around 220 so maybe they're trying to do that and squeeze him into that already crowded linebacking corps. I also wonder how brandon jackson and eugene fells are doing.
