The reason he was forced (by the other leaders of the band) was the fact that we were running entry repeatedly in FIVE INCHES OF STANDING WATER! I still remember the rooster tail being put out by the maggots as they pushed a three foot wake on their beloved drum majors.

I'm not accusing you of anything, or anybody else. I'm just trying to invoking some action, a call to action if you want it in ENG 112 terms.

All I'm saying is that 2 years ago there was wide spread motivation to be on time because of quiggleys and azz-hole sousaphone players, now there is only motivation on the individual section basis.

Not to be "that guy", but quigglies are pretty much the very definition of hazing. I'm not surprised at all that they've been toned down or gotten rid of all together. And it's really not up to the students to punish other students who are late, that would be the job of the director. Additionally, I would say having your grade docked would be more of a motivation for some people than a quiggly.

Just so everyone knows, quigglies have not been rid of, Hayward may believe that they no longer exist, but we tend to use them within the section, depending on what goes on next fall, they make a triumphant return, we'll see

I suppose with the later game times, no one goes towering anymore? We used to go stuff the scaffolding with people the night before and sleep out there...wake up in time for morning rehearsal.

I remember marching at the very first night game ever in Doyt - they rented lights for the game.

I'm sure that there are sections that do that, but because of the taller tower there's a bigger risk of injury, so the sections that do it probably will keep quiet.

So the details are a little cloudy for me 15 years later...geeze, maybe you should have been a drum major or something

Besides, we had so much rain and wind and close calls with lightning that year, they all kind of blend together. Was it that same season that we were rehearsing as a big rainstorm was coming in, then at the first sign of lightning, we were told to "get out of here."? Then, right after the director got off of the tower, it fell over from the wind? I'm pretty sure it was that year, but it could have been the next with Rohrer.

I still think my all time favorite Sparks memory was at that rehearsal in Vegas. The now infamous "No! YOU chill!"
