Ok now that that list is over, is Brady Quinn worth all that?

Obviously, no one KNOWS how any of these guys will pan out...I wasn't impressed with Quinn in some big games last 2 yrs., but he DID do a heck of a job in the SC game (the "push" game) as well as pulling ND out of the ditch in the MSU game that cost John L. Smith his job.....
My impression is that the Browns followed the NFL "formula" for this kind of trade...i.e. your 2nd this yr. and 1st next year to move back into the 1st round. If they "overpaid" for Quinn, guess we'll know, but not for a couple of years.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
I'm a big fan of picking up Brady. I think we overpaid, but you always overpay to trade back up into Round 1.
Brady Quinn hasn't shown the "it" that you love to see by leading his team to big wins, but he's absolutely very football smart. I think he'll be a top 15 QB in the league at worst, with potential to be top 10. He's not the boom or bust of Russell, but he's a very good NFL prospect. I truly believe that we just picked up 2 of Savages top 5 players.
I'm not a Joe Thomas fan at all, but I like having him a lot more now that we also got a legit QB prospect.

Looking at it again, the only thing I might feel differently about is if they would have worked out a conditional first rounder instead of straight away like they did. Then again, everyone and their sister knew what was up and I think they did pretty well all things considered to, as you said, get the second of their top 5.hammb wrote:I'm a big fan of picking up Brady. Good to see I'm not the only one that feels that way. How in the hell did we leave Poz on the board? Guy would've represented an upgrade over Hillenmeyer or a replacement presuming that Briggs doesn't work outBGSUVA wrote:I guess I can't complain about anyone elses draft with the bears wasting their pick on olsen. kill me now.

I think Olsen will make a pretty good TE for the Bears. His workout numbers were outstanding, but he is also a very good football player. His numbers don't look like it, but he was very under-utilized in Miami. He's got good hands, and is a good athlete. Not sure of his blocking ability, but I think he'll make a good seam route option for the Bears.
I'm not a huge Brady Quinn fan, but I have to give it up for Savage pulling off that trade. He is probably a better long-term option than Frye or Anderson and he should be really motivated to lay it on those teams that passed on him and made him look like an idiot for the better part of an afternoon. I like the trade and hopefully it begins a turnaround for the franchise.
The Browns traded up with Dallas' again for their second round pick to take Eric Wright (CB - USC and UNLV). Supposedly some big-time character questions, but everybody says the talent is there to be a really good corner. I think the Browns gave up their second and third round picks to move up and also swapped sixth round picks with the 'Boys.

the thing is we don't need a TE now. We needed one last draft. Des Clark was fine last season. Olsen is not a very good blocker by any means. What we could have used was an OL like Pols, or a dependable WR like Jarrett or Smith (I'm not sold on Moose, too many drops for my liking). A corner wouldn't be bad either. But a sub par blocking TE? please. An OL would have been nice like Blalock, but I'm hoping we wait until the 6th and pick up Markray but that is the homer in me.
