Just Thinking...

Post by Rollo83 »

...Now that we have put up a crooked number on a "quality defense," what excuse will the critics have now about our offense? We did what Georgia and Ohio State couldn't do against that defense earlier this year.

...I don't think there is a defense in the country that we couldn't move the ball on and score often.

...Our defense scares the hell out of me. I am afraid Brucie will pick us apart. Toledo has the best offense we will have faced since Oklahoma. Poor tackling and being unable to stop a third down play is very iritating. Brucie won't make the mistakes that Stan Hill made today.

...Omar gave the coaches something to work with him on when he threw the ball up for grabs instead of taking the sack just before half time.

...I know its like asking Marilyn Monroe to cook, but Omar doesn't seem to have the speed when he tucks the ball under and runs. The option plays he runs are horrible. This is what made Josh Harris so hard to defend.

...PJ Pope is a helluva compliment to our vertical passing game.

...We could have very easily put 70+ on the board today.

...I'd like to see more of Terrell White on defense.

...A USA Top 25 spot is less than 24 hours away.

...Regardless of what we do in the glASS Bowl, we will be bowling somewhere in December.

...I like our chances against any bowl opponent, but with the way they run the ball and with our poor tackling, Minnesota is one team I don't want to face.

I disagree entirely. Today Omar had some troubles, but for the most part I've said all season that Omar runs the option about 10 times better than Josh ever did. Josh was TERRIBLE when he ran the option, his decision making was always poor. I don't want to take anything away from him, but the option was NOT his strong suit at all.

What made Josh Harris so tough to defend was the designed runs between the tackles for him. When he had the ball in his hands he had the instincts of a RB, and I don't see Omar with those same instincts. Josh could go into a crease and come out for 6 yards, something that very few QBs have the capability of doing.

That said I Omar throws the ball much more effectively than Josh already, and our offense should actually be better under Omar because of this. Seems to me that teams are still having trouble defending us even without the designed QB runs.

Josh was a playmaker, Omar is a QB. As much as I respect Josh's talent and his contributions to our program, I think Omar gets more out of our offense than Josh did.

Neither one is exactly Cornelius Greene on the option. But Josh had the ability to make people miss, stiff arm tacklers and bounce off people on the move. Josh looked quicker with his feet than Omar.

Omar seems a tad slow of foot when he gets outside the pocket. He also doesn't seem to look for the contact as Josh did. Maybe that's a good thing, because I don't want to get him hurt. Omar seems to be tip toeing while Josh was running.

But you are right, Omar is a better passer than Josh ever was. Omar puts the ball on target...even on most of his incompletions.

What would you rather have a better runner as a QB or a better passer as a QB? I'll take the better passer everytime. Put the runningbacks in the backfield. And heck you act like Omar is bad at running. He's only been sacked a handful of times all season and only thown THREE ints. Harris had 14 last season.

Well, he was probably tiptoeing because we had soaked the field before the game. Remember that's the only way our team is any good.
