I would have guessed about 21-22,000 myself. The 18,000 seems a little low. It was a little windy today, but the sun was shining bright. I had on a t-shirt, turtleneck and sweatshirt. Didn't put my coat on until late in the game when the sun was down behind the stadium.

ridiculous between quarter promotions. Put the time and energy into filling the stands. The team is on field entertainment enough. We aren't the a single A baseball team that needs to keep the fans entertained during a game. . .

I dont know what kind of video editing capabilities they have, but you would think with our offense, there would be plenty of "quarter highlights" to put in the video board between quarters. Get it sponsored, give the sponsor their logo full on the screen until the highlights come in, put the logo in the corner, and then full again until its time to start the next quarter. (Or however much time they have around other announcements they may put on the board.)

18,000 sounds about right to me.

The east stands were fuller than usual. The west stands were not. If you watched on television, that could have confused the issue for you.

I was surprised. I expected us to break 20,000. I'm not sure any of us have the answers as to why that didn't happen.

I thought there were easily 21k there...and the Herd brought maybe 500.

Thats part of the problem right there. I had two friends , one of which went to BG and the other is in school at BG right now and they left in the 2nd qtr.!!

We had little talk about the subject in Polleyes and he says $15 is too much for him. Now, he doesn't go to every OSU game either , he usually saves up for it because its like a "vacation" as he put it. But he left to make it to Pollyes to see the OSU game on TV. Little stuff like that. Too many apethetic fans who don't care about BG football because OSU is all that, you know the long , long tradition of winning national championships, the hundreds of thousands of dedicated fans and so on. Stuff we don't have right now.

Did you have to order this game to see it on Fox Ohio?? I wanted my uncle to tape it for me and my dad said it wasn't available on regular cable. What the heck!!

GO BG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POUND THE ROCKETTES!!!!!!!!

I think the loss to NIU created the impression that we weren't going to win the west and that we weren't going to go to a bowl. That was enough to dissuade the casual fans.

As someone who drove almost five hours to see the game I was extremely dissapointed in the crowd. Whether it was 18K or 21k is not that much of a difference. What I saw was a lot of open seats around me and completely empty corners. I am just really disappointed that so few people come when 60K come to lexington to watch the wildcats have comeback in the last 2mins to beat Vandy. Coverage on TV should be limited for us to ESPN until the stadium is full. At least then people will show up, if only to try and get on national tv.

It wasn't listed on the cable guide, but it was shown on Fox Ohio. I set the recorder to tape it hoping it would be on and it was. Since my husband, BGFan couldn't be at the game, he wanted to at least see it later at home. Not sure why it wasn't in the guide, but it was on. Btw, did you stop by the tent?

Alright...

I'll just say something about attendance.

I expected to see the stadium full. Especially after reading on here that it may be a sellout. However, some friends at the game said they stopped at a BG gas station and they were giving out free tickets? Of course, the MU fans had already bought them...but were you handing out tickets or ticket vouchers?

Gripe about the students--but a lot of them aren't up at 12:00, I know, I'm a student. I think every school will gripe some about them. But, the fact is..if there is beer somewhere, they will likely leave if the game is a blowout. Not much you can do there.

I wish MU would have brought more fans as well. I think the game time change could have kept a few home, but really--it isn't a good excuse.

I think its a little bit funny that we are all having the same problems getting people out to games. I honestly wish I knew the solution to these problems.

Yeah, we all have the same problems. And honestly, I don't think we should be letting Fox Sportsnet push us around and determine our start times, either. I blame Rick Christ for this, though, because part of the conference deal with Fox should have been that all start times are concrete.

Additionally, we should NEVER televise a game in Bowling Green (or Huntington, whichever the case may be). There has to be a way to make it available only to commercial outlets and not residential customers. Someone else mentioned a blackout on here, and I remember that the Browns used to do this in the 80's when they were having attendence problems. My own brother didn't go to the game because he and most of the people in his FRATERNITY felt like watching it on TV. What in the F#&% is a fraternity doing sitting at home when a game is going on? Isn't the one of the main purposes of a fraternity to foster school spirit? IMO, a symptom of the larger problem...

I realize that this means that a lot of people who do go to games won't be able to tape it and watch it later, but I think that would be a small price to pay to see a sold out Doyt!

We really do need to make a stink about this!

If we lost a couple thousand fannies in seats because we were on television, so be it.

Long term, it is best to be on television every single week if we can.

Not local television. I wish WSAZ would black out all our home games definitely--

Now national recognition is different--in that case, its best to be on TV.

Green, Schade, that is exactly what I meant. If you live in Bowling Green the only way to see the game should be to go TO the game. I guess I would be inclined to make an exception for local bars simply because most of them do a lot to hype our athletic programs, but thats it.

I fully understand the importance of TV coverage outside of our immediate area. I just don't think "well, I'll watch it on TV" should be an excuse not to go to the game for anyone in Bowling Green.
