Record is irrelevant.
I want to see us show up and actually play consistently good football. Discipline, fundamentals, and creative playcalling.
If we get those things the wins will come.
Since Coach Brandon has yet to ever display the ability to put this product on the field I'm not holding my breath.

Urban's defense was easier to run on than Rob Fick. They consistently failed to defend the mid to deep pass. Every game against a good QB was a nail biter.
We had problems before...we have problems now. I'm thinking this year's team will have considerably fewr problem than last year's.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
I think I'll go with Hammb on this one. When the end of the season comes, I won't care about the record directly. Rather, I'll look to see whether or not we actually played the best games of football our guys could do. Between going 6-6 and only putting forth half the effort, and going 5-7 and getting beat by honestly better teams, I'd rather take the 5-7 record. I would love to have our guys come out of games like the Ohio State game last year with a loss and feel like they've just played their best game then come out with a near loss and feel like they didn't put forth their best efforts. No, I'm not saying that I want to see blow-outs for every game though that would be pretty awesome, rather I just want to see our guys actually performing to the best of their abilities and to see our coaching staff actually use our guys' talents where they best fit while working on their weaknesses, and essentially removing all doubt from the players minds. As far as trying to decide on what games we'll win or how well we'll do, I'll just take it one game at a time, and right now the next game is Minnesota, and through my Orange and Brown Glasses, I see a win.

[quote="Flipper"]So...to be clear on this...we end up at 5-7...we lose the game at MSU on a last second FG. Would that still be unfathomable.
Not trying to be a dick...I can do that without trying usually...but I just want to see how firmly set some of these lines are.[/quote
I don't believe in quality losses, good losses, moral victories, or whatever people want to call them. I want to be over .500. I want BG to win them all, but I know with the current coaches/players/schedule that's probably not going to happen. If it comes down to a last second field goal to lose a game it's still goes in the loss column and that's not good enough. If you're good enough to play to the last seconds you're good enough to win. This team can easily be 6-6 or 8-4. I think we have the talent to go 2-2 out of conference. With a little luck we could go 3-1. I'm an optimist on that. It's come to a point where I don't hope for wins anymore, I did that when Blackney was coaching. I expect them now.

The thing that the team is going to have to do this year is avoid the big-play bug. The offensive line is going to struggle a bit with the departure of Big D and I think the freshman will be a little shell shocked in Minnesota and East Lansing. Will we be faster this year? Definitely. Will last year's freshmen be ready to go? Absolutely. I have all the faith in the world in Coach Brandon and his staff and I think this year will be a breath of fresh air with some surprises. I think we DEFINITELY break the losing streak against UT and maybe open some Big 10 or ACC eyes...Is that enough optimism? As a life long Cleveland resident I'm great at being optimistic at the beginning of each season but I really think some of the growing pains are past us and as a Falcon Alum, I still plan on being at home games, and I might even take a trip up north to East Lansing...Ay Ziggy Zoomba baby!!! Go Falcons!

While at the same time slowing down the other teams' players, so we should go undefeated at home. However, the field turf on the road will slow down our guys while making the other teams hella fast, so we'll lose every road game. 5-7 record. That field turf is gonna make those guys hella fast too

I agree. The O line will be one of the best in the MAC, led by my boy Kory Lichtensteiger. They will be very solid.bgfalcon03 wrote:"The offensive line is going to struggle a bit with the departure of Big D"
The o line is the least of the worries..they will be just as good of not better than last year.
