I brewed yesterday

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Went quick and easy with an all-extract recipe with some interesting adjuncts... new spruce growth, anise seed and whole cloves! It's a nod to a beer I brewed 10 years ago with a friend of mine who now lives in Japan called IQX.

Hope it turns out for you.

Certainly an odd combo of ingredients :)

If you don't think spelling is important in cooking and brewing, you've never worked with anise seed.

It's been bottled. Makes me long for a nice kegging system though... sheesh. Thank God Saturday was a gray, rainy day!

Awesome man, you'll have to let us know how it turns out!

For your kegging startup, here's a good link :)

I probably wouldn't brew anymore if it came down to bottling, I just don't like to mess around with them. Although at least you've got the flip top type bottles, all I ever had were the capping ones. Still, I think you'll find the kegging to be worth the expense :)

Plus you can have it carbed and drinking in a couple days instead of waiting for it to bottle-condition!

Yeah, that's what REALLY sucks right now, because the taste from the hydrometer was AMAZING on Saturday. I want it to be ready NOW! And if I'd have kegged it, it would be! As it stands, it's priming in the bottles and should be "drinkable" in 4 or 5 more days and really at its prime in another couple of weeks.

I've got a couple hundred bucks from a side job coming in soon... I think it may be time to upgrade some of my equipment. ;-)

I do like the flip-top bottles. Easy to use/re-use and 16oz as opposed to 12, so it fills a pint glass.
