Hey...tampax is on sale at Walgreen's.

I don't really consider reading your opinion and telling you why I disagree with it being dissmissive...going with my initial instinct to simply call you a twit and move on would have been dismissive.

I love my mask...it sets off my eyes and it matches my purse. Please don't tell MACMAN that I talked about havinga purse...I don't want him to think I'm hitting on him.

These coaches had an opportunity to move on. You people bitch and moan about the last season or two (or about Gregg Brandon's tenure in the case of hammb, Falconboy, and Globetrotter). The fact of the matter is, the coaches and AD's who know - they are the ones hiring our staff. And they are not going to D-II, D-III,or NAIA schools.

Lighten up folks and get a grip on reality. The grass ain't always greener elsewhere. For all those who thought Tim Beckman was a terrible DC, he got the last laugh - he left our DC position, moved into a nice coaches position at OSU, and into the DC position at OSU. Yep - he sucked.

It's obvious that Gregg Brandon has absolutely no idea as to how to coach. I mean, if he were really smart, he would hire his assistant coaches from this board.

That's certainly a possibility, but I have to ask the question again: If all of these coaches were so good here to get these great opportunites elsewhere, why were we so bad last year?

1. I didn't see one single coach don a uniform last year.
2. Sometimes it's not what you know, it's who you know.

I agree that coaches move on to better opportunities all the time. That's a given. But is it just a statistical anomaly that we lost, what, 75% of our staff? Logic tells me you would expect to turn over one or two every year. I know I am probably wrong about this because of a bad memory, but Coach Beckman was about the only coach we lost over a two, three, four year period. So maybe we were due to lose a bunch at once.

Or, the coaches themselves realized things weren't working out like they hoped here at BG and decided to pursue other opportunities. Why does that possibility seem so far-fetched to some of you? I'm not saying it was the reason. I have not talked to any of the coaches that left so I have no idea what their motivation was. But isn't it at least a possibility that they were unhappy with things here?

Point 2 is perfectly valid.

Point 1 is borderline ridiculous. I know you don't honestly believe that coaches don't have a significant bearing on the performance of college football teams.

I'd probably bet that it's a combination of the two. Why does it have to be so black and white? I would imagine that some coaches got offers they couldn't refuse through networking, and some moved on to what they thought as better situations even if it was a more lateral move.

But it's so much more fun to be dicks to each other around here, let's just keep playing it's "all or nothing".

I didn't say the coaches had no bearing. They can teach the game plan but it is the players that need to execute the game plan.

Not ridiculous at all.

I simply don't agree. If coaches didn't have a large bearing on the team's performance, they wouldn't be making millions of dollars at many schools. In professional sports, coaches might not have a huge impact. But in college, they are paramount.

For example, even if you were right, and it's 95% the players' fault for how bad we were, the coaching staff hand-picked every single player and taught them the game plan. How exactly does that equate to not having much impact on the team's performance?

A college football team's success is hugely reliant on the competence of the coaching staff. I'm confused as to how you could argue otherwise.

I understand that, and I never said you said they have no bearing. You're implying that their impact is minimal. I think it's the single biggest factor. You could say we both have slightly different ideas about the game of college football. :)
