Factman,
I for one am seriously looking forward to seeing what our "new" complex will finally look like! The SEBO, combined with the field turf, and hopefully some upgrading of seating etc. would make the Doyt at the very least very comparable to facilities in rest of the league.

The building is pretty much done other than some outside landscape work. It looked like all the training equipment was in. I would like to see the new work done to the locker room though.

Drove by the Sebo again this afternoon, and I have to say I'm loving it except for the metal siding they put on. I love the way the brick looks, but the metal just doesn't do it for me, especially when compared with the brick..
Some pictures I took not too long ago (the yellow has since been almost completely covered:

Anyone agree with me on that?
In any case, I'm very excited to see the stadium when all of this is complete. The Sebo is looking great and I think the turf will look very sharp. I can't wait!

A week or so ago that was just dirt. They got the turf on there quickly.

Ball State is going to have an amazing facility after this project is completed. I would love to see our field drop 3 to 5 feet is possible from the current level. I think that will improve sight lines and make our opponents feel like they are playing inside a deep hole. If they do not build the convication center in the south endzone like I would like then some kind of plaza with permanent facilities for the Falcon Club and Bookstore along with a tribute to Doyt Perry would be very nice. I know the statue has been talked about on here before but that would be my second choice for its placement. The first is just off the field so the team can pass by it as they take the field for every home game.

I know it's been discussed before, but how much would a brass statue cost?

Simply awesome. The Doyt has taken a major step up to be in line with the top facilities in the MAC.

I, too, cannot wait to see the Doyt this fall...probably have to make a trip up in early August to check things out.

I'm starting to think that we're just going to keep the field in the condition it's in right now. Has a very Colosseum-ish feel to it. After each play, the players turn to the top of the press box where Dr. Ribeau gives a thumbs up or thumbs down, then the lions are released.

Of course, Sid's wife will be at his side feeding him grapes, earning $12,333 per grape fed.

Maybe to gain extra revenue we can get in a few motocross races before the turf goes in, im not sure about Ohio laws but a bullfight might bring in some cash as well

The Doyt

Post by Class of 61 »

Just looked in on the Doyt again...hard to believe all that water is still standing there after two + days of sunny, windy conditions...guess that should show them where the drainage problems were/are. Hopefully, they'll be able to get restarted soon...maybe they need to bring in a copter to dry out the area?
