Stopped in and took some pictures of and from AA today. Interestingly enough, Dusan came out and started knocking down treys like it was nobody's business before I left.

Took some pics out the windows at Saddlemeier and the library as well.

You know...I may get slammed for this, but I haven't completely given up on Dusan. He was just plain ugly to watch last year..he appeared a liability on defense and was terrible shooting the ball. BUT....I felt like he was possibly the best passer on the team. And as crappy as it was to have him on the floor...when he was on the floor, some of the other players benefited more from his passing ability.

We've all seen Dusan knock down 3's consistently in warmups and when he's practicing. If he can somehow carry that over to game, he could be a key contributer coming off screens and knocking down shots.

The one thing that worries me is his defense. He's slow and I'm not sure that can be fixed.

Did I just support Dusan??

I think Duce could shine in a different system... and now we have a different system. :-) It was really encouraging to see him in there shooting. We've got a rebounding machine that lobs the ball back out to you at the 3-point line, so he was in there himself, knocking them down, one... after... another... it was promising.

I haven't given up on anyone... Jimmy V wouldn't like that. ;-) "Don't give up... don't EVER give up..."

I just realized, the floor was re-painted, but the 3-point line wasn't moved. Isn't that going to be an NCAA-wide rule that it's now going to be at 20'8" or something?

Grant, someone can correct me, but I believe that takes effect in the 2008-09 season?

Dusan was our best passer last year, I agree. He was also the only player that seemed to grasp the concept of penetrating a zone and then beating it with passes.

Unfortunately, as you point out, he's SLOW. More than just being unathletic slow, his shot release seems like it's in slow motion.

The only value I see him ever providing is as a spot up shooter. If we get to the point where we can penetrate and dish out (a la LeBron James) he could be valuable as he can hit the shots when he's wide open like that. Unless he quickens that shot release I cannot see him being valuable coming off screens, etc.

New year, new staff, new system. I'm willing to keep an open mind about everyone, including Dusan.

I concur. The move of the three point line is effective for the 2008-09 season.

Thanks for posting all those pics, Grant. Looked like a beautiful day in Bowling Green for those shots of the Library and SM.

BTW, when does the season tip off? TG needs to get a countdown clock going for hoops now that Coach Orr is in da house.

GO BG HOOPS

I'd like to know when tip off is as well, but our schedule probably isn't even close to being finalized.

Does practice begin 10/15 or 11/1? Will they be open under Orr?

I was in the union today to grab some lunch and Coach Orr was there talking with some people about the new system. Didn't hear too much, but from what I was able to hear (eavesdrop... sorry!) I like the sound of it.

I think he was talking about having some athletic (I assume this to mean quick as well) bigs who can contribute on both ends of the court, and being a big man himself, I'm sure he knows what he's looking for.

Like I said, I didn't hear too many details, but I'm excited to see what the new season can bring.
