Joe Jakubowski to BG
Per Brad Fanning on Fox 36,PG Joe Jakubowski from Toledo St John's has been released from his LOI at Rice to sign with BG...he can play this fall!
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
I forget the original thread on this kid, but is he considered a good pick-up? I'd assume it can't be too bad, if he came from another D-1 school, but I'm just wondering...
Not big on the Johnnies, but if we can just get him a panda tat and some knee socks he'll be set.

That's a Shocker!BGSUVA wrote:had 30 some d1 offers, was being heavily recruited by Witchita State...
I think people were afraid he was a little too "Floyd-esque," but personally, I think a true point-guard is a HUGE need... if he fits, and coach Orr must think he will, then I'm all for it! Welcome back to NW Ohio, Joe!! You're a Falcon now!

I agree with Grant regarding the PG issue. We don't have one. So if he can play that position, then I think this is a great addition.
On the flip-side, I have to ask a question. Did we lose a player in order to have a scholarship available?

Matlock was a package deal. We had to sign him to have a shot at Tyler Hudson.Flipper wrote:I think we had two avaialble. Matlock gets one (I'm suprised Andy Griffith can play at his age) and it looks like Jakubowski gets the other.
BTW...he's ** on Scout and *** on Rivals

Oh, the Jakubowksi signing is huge, too. He should be an immediate contributor. It's also no coincidence that this happened after Dakich departed. Floyd, now a SJJ assistant coach, probably didn't have the best things to say about him.
Also, the Jakubowskis are deeply religious, Christian people. It doesn't hurt that Coach Orr is cut from the same cloth.
Sounds reasonable. I can never keep those basketball scholarships straight. Didn't Dakich give one to Patrick Phillips?Flipper wrote:I think we had two avaialble. Matlock gets one (I'm suprised Andy Griffith can play at his age) and it looks like Jakubowski gets the other.

Well there's ALWAYS bad news lurking about Chris Knight it seems... it's just a matter of if any of it is true.BleedOrange wrote:All 13 of our scholarships are filled, assuming there is no bad news lurking about Chris Knight.

Always good to see at least one NW Ohio player on the team. Hopefully we can recruit well around BG and beyond to put the best team on the court with a local fan base that is interested. I expect to see some SJ kids in the seats.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
