advertisements and airplanes

Post by Dr. Bucko »

I don't know about anybody else, but that #$#$$#@#$ airplane pulling the Charlie's Dodge ad during the pregame show produced enough engine noise to drowned out the band and even the PA announcer. I couldn't hear the band's salute to Marshall, or even the Star Spangled...... Seems to me somebody ought to get a little more control over that sort of thing next year. --- Maybe again, it's just me. :(

That isn't a bad thing. I don't know if half the band even knew the song.

Meh, I bet half did. Unlike the usual 1/10 for most visitor fight songs.

Well since the trumpets have the melody and I know for a fact about only 10 knew it 100%, the sound wasn't too good!

As I was not at this game and have no idea how close the PLane was to the stadium. To fly over a stuadium that is in use you must have permission from the controlling agency (Clevelnad Center) and you cannot come within 1000 feet of any person, object, or structure. An average weekend warrior flier cannot fly near events with thousands of people are in attendence. Notice to Airmen are given out. If this plane was carrying a banner they most likely had permission to be there but like I said I have no idea how close they actually were.

Hey Dayons, I love your signature photo, but PLEASE put BG ON TOP IN THAT ONE!!! :D ....Like we are going to be after that game in the A$$ Bowl!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

How about the one that took off and flew right over the stadium? He wasn't pulling a sign, but he flew the length of the stadium right down the middle.

I miss the Deja Vu banner flying over the Doyt. Now, if that didn't excite the kids, I don't know what could ever excite them.

One thing I noticed (happily) at the Oklahoma game was no airplanes pulling banners. I just figured it was a Homeland Security thing.

The FAA will issue a Notice to Airmen (Notam) designating an area of airspace in which a temporary flight restriction (TFR) is necessary to protect persons or property on the surface or in the air, to maintain air safety and efficiency, or to prevent the unsafe congestion of aircraft in the vicinity of an aerial demonstration or major sporting event. The FAA will detemine what spoting events need a TFR. Federal Aviation Regulation 91.145. This reg goes on much furthur but basically if this game did not have a TFR the planes flying overhead must have at least 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle. However, I know for a fact that when I call a weather briefer before I fly they tell you to stay away from stadiums, nuclear plants etc., so the person who flew midfield without a banner was probably in the wrong. The pilots carrying banners are aloud to be there and in the case that there was a NOTAM to avoid this area they got clearance from the Cleveland en route center. ....As far as the Oklahoma games goes there was a probably a TFR.
