This kid is a sold overall recruit. He has religion and smarts: he was accepted at Rice. JoeJ was ranked by Rivals as the 18ht best in Ohio 2007. They also gave him 3 stars, which is pretty good. However, don't expect him to immediately take over full time PG duties. It just isn't very realistic, imho.

Talking to a friend of mine who is in the St. John's system (an employee, not a student)...
Sounds like a great get for coach Orr! I'm really excited to have Joe on board competing for the point guard position! The way I see Joe, he is a quiet, to himself, good kid. Hard working, I would see him in the gym during the off season late at night or early morning working on his game. He is in the weight room this summer. This past year his game improved tremendously from the beginning of the season to the end. I have never heard anything bad about him. Well, maybe he is little different, but in a good way. He just does his thing, not a follower.

Re: PG
I've not seen him play, but have read the Blade stories and recruiting services info, and you are the first one to ever say he is not a point guard. So forgive me if I take your assessment with a grain of salt.MacGuy wrote:Probably not a point guard. Saw him play five or six times this year. Has a nice outside shot, decent size and plays pretty good D. Not really quick, and his ballhandling is average. I see him as a 2G down the road.

Re: PG
No disrespect MacGuy but if Orr would've brought in a guard that wasnt' a pg when we allready have a crap load of 2G's and SF's who could slide over if need be , that wouldn't bode well for Orr's recruiting prowess. So I also take your opinion with a grain of salt at moment.MacGuy wrote:Probably not a point guard. Saw him play five or six times this year. Oh man, you must not know what you speak MacGuy, because even falconboy is taking your opinion with a grain of salt (probably the second half of your opinionfalconboy wrote:No disrespect MacGuy but if Orr would've brought in a guard that wasnt' a pg when we allready have a crap load of 2G's and SF's who could slide over if need be , that wouldn't bode well for Orr's recruiting prowess. I will say that MACGUY is pretty close. Joe is not going to blow anybody anyway athletically but he is a MUCH better athlete than Floyd would have ever dreamed of. I would agree that he is a solid passer, works extremely hard on defense and is a lights out shooter.
I will say of the senior class, probably the second best D-1 prospect in Toledo this year, but with academics considered, he is tops.
