Hey, ya know what? Maybe we should start enjoying all this smack form OSU, cuz we must be really worthy of it like a Michigan. I mean if we are that podunk and unworthy , they wouldn't keep coming here.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:buckeye wrote:osu may not be the best at everything, but this is football, and yes we are one of the best in the nation so just drop it b/c there is no sense in arguing that. "41-14, bye bye now." yeah you really shut me up... while the buckeyes were playing in front of a national audience earning millions for themselves and the big 10, BG was working on a losing basketball season. and tek really wonders why whenever he posts something about osu people talk bad about them
I also love when these "big bad" osu fans talk smack about a MAC school. Your team is in one of th best confernces in America, and yet your talking smack about MAC schools. Isn't there a Michigan fan walking down the street that you need to throw something at.

Exactly! You want to talk about complexes...how insecure must one be to ridicule a place with 1/10 the operating budget?BGFalconfromCincy wrote: I also love when these "big bad" osu fans talk smack about a MAC school. Do BG fans talk trash at Defiance and Ohio Northern?
Like someone else mentioned, the NFL is a meritocracy and will find the talent wherever it might be. The fact that this is even being proposed for a kid who's still in high school makes me glad that we usually avoid the morass that is big-time recruiting.

Hell according to ESPN, osu plays one of the easiest schedules this year. Heck it looks like they want to join the MAC. They basically have a MAC schedule. Bayless might as well play for the Falcons and follow the family tradition.
Nice pointless comeback I told you not to bother with.buckeye wrote:while the buckeyes were playing in front of a national audience earning millions for themselves and the big 10, BG was working on a losing basketball season. BYE BYE NOW! OSU>BG
I love how every osu fan can talk their teams up for being so grea, but when someone mentions them losing, they comeback with a million other reasons and excuses. A majority of osu's talent just left. Until they play some games and win, there's no reason to brag about anything.

I'm surprised to see the Buck$ actually going on the road to Washington in non conf action. Usually they play their first 5 games every year at the Shoe.Tricky_Falcon wrote:Hell according to ESPN, osu plays one of the easiest schedules this year. I agree there, but you know that buckeye, tek, or one of the others will respond with "what about Texas last season"Falconfreak90 wrote:I'm surprised to see the Buck$ actually going on the road to Washington in non conf action. TOSU blew out and embarassed Washington at the horseshoe in 2003 and this game is the other half of that deal. Watch for Washington to take some aggression out on the luckeyes. I'm not sure they'll have the personnel to pull the upset but they'll show some serious flaws, such as how overrated their defense is.

I could have sworn the bucks were supposed to travel to cleveland to play toledo this year. Any idea if that game will ever happen? As nuch as I hate the rockets I would pretty much consider it a milestone for the mac to get osu out of columbus for a game.
As far as the kid is concerned, family ties and traditions mean a lot to some people. Some young guys live for their father's pride. Maybe this kid is like that, and if he is, let's hope his father's pride lies here in BG.
One more note on BG recruiting; this is a small town. I know many of us here on this board love this place because its not a huge, crime filled, big time city. A lot of guys around the country are from places just like this, and wouldn't dream of giving up the nice relaxed life we can lead around here. I personally have been to places like c-bus, New York, and others, and they were great for a week or a couple days, but every day life would be too much. I'll keep my roots in my small town and save the big time for vacation.

Like I said in my earlier post Freak...it's not Usually. It's generally 50/50. They almost always have a home & home against a big program. On the years that they get the home end of that package they only play 4 road games. When they're on the road end they play 5.Falconfreak90 wrote:I hear ya and that's why I said "Usually".BGFalconfromCincy wrote:I agree there, but you know that buckeye, tek, or one of the others will respond with "what about Texas last season"Falconfreak90 wrote:I'm surprised to see the Buck$ actually going on the road to Washington in non conf action. I'm sure we'll hear about how much money OSU makes and why wouldn't they want 8 home games a year and what a great privilege it is for us inferior teams to play in the Shoe...blah blah blah.
For quick research I looked at ESPN's OSU page. They only go back to 2002, so it's not a large sample size. Still in that group they played 5 road games in '02, '04, '06, and '07. They played 4 road games in '03 & '05. In both cases it was because they had BCS conference teams play in the 'shoe. (NC State & Washington in '03, Texas in '05).
Freak-I completely agree. Aside from Texas the past couple years, Ohio State simply has not challenged themself with their non-conference schedule. They've played no other programs that could pose a legitimate threat to them.
Their non-conference schedule this year is an abomination:
Youngstown State, Akron, at Washington (8-26 the past 3 years), Kent State.
I guess that's fine if it gets you to BCS games most every year, but don't try and say it's not easy.

OSU's schedule this year is pathetic. I'll give them Washington, because they were a legitimate program when the deal was signed...not OSU's fault that these deals get done 8 years or more in advance and that Washington fell on their faces.
Youngstown there is no excuse for. I don't care how many ties they have with Tressel or whatever, it's pathetic. Personally I don't think 1A teams should EVER play 1AA teams, and certainly not those teams that are in BCS conferences. If I were the NCAA I'd make a simple rule that any team playing a 1AA school is not eligible for the BCS that season; problem solved.
Playing multiple MAC schools I don't really have a problem with. They're 1A and in state schools keeping the money in state. KSU & UA might give them a game this year too.
Normally I don't have a problem with OSU's scheduling. They usually play a couple mid majors at home and play a home & home with a major conference foe.
