Radio Replacement?

Post by BGDrew »

Has anyone heard if the athletic department is going to replace Andy or not? I heard a rumor that all the responsibilities are going to be given to BGRSO, but haven't heard anything for sure.

What a novel concept.

Speaking of replacements: anyone heard anything about an assistant
hockey coach. Any rumors?

I believe a BG graduate and ex-NHL guy was hired but since it's not up anywhere I can't say the name.

That would be awesome. I know there are a number of Falcons who spent time in the NHL that have taken on coaching roles of late. Or just having someone that has an attachment to BG *and* the NHL experience would be outstanding!

I have a few, though they all seem to be working in positions where becoming a second or third assistant at BG doesn't seem to fit. I'd think it would have to be "off the board" a little, someone who's recently removed from playing.

And I don't think Peter Ratchuk is it.

I tried Google'ing a few names, and just couldn't come up with any that made sense. Does anyone else think having a complete BG coaching staff might be a bad thing? I felt that when they hired DC it was a great hire because it brought in someone who had outside knowledge.

Agreed, the player I was thinking of is an assistant in the AHL, I don't think he will come to BG.

My sources tell me that Jack Reilly, formerly associated with the Minnesota Youth Hockey Program, is on the radar screen.

I've heard Tdd Rierden. Many years in NHL and IHL or Ahl.
I agree with Drew ( scary ain't it ) that hiring someone like DC with outside knowledge would be good.
Why is this still a secret? Like the contract extension? Sorry the "Grassy Knoll" side of my brain working again.

I had forgotten about Rierden, but he was around the "era" I was thinking about. I remember going to games as a freshman thinking Todd looked about 8 foot tall on his skates.

And outside knowledge has its benefits, but I'd say hiring someone who's been through four years at BG has a great upside as well. (To talk up the "family" quality of campus, features of the education, etc.)
