Marshall losing.
I have not enjoyed BGSU beating a team more than watching the Falcons beat Marshall. Marshall is a flawed team this year. Their offense remains dangerous despite some horrible outings. Their defense has typically risen to the occasion, and is also highly capable. Even without their current flaws, I do not feel BGSU would have lost to Marshall. BGSU may be playing as well, if not better, than any point in the last three years. It did not start the season as good as it has become. It is not yet as good as it can be. However the progress it has made with each game, and the smooth transition it made to beating a good team, after weeks of cup-cake-stomps is telling.
BG has the focus of a team on a mission, and experience has taught them not to take anything for granted. Unlike any time since 1994, when BGSU got onto a roll, they didn't get cocky or sloppy, they only poured it on. They turned the game into a feeding frenzy on both sides of the ball.
The most memorable images which sums up the entire game, and how BGSU is focused right now, were in a tipped pass returned by the defense for a score, and the touchdown we decided not to take, ending the game.
Marshall's football team has been developing the current flaws for a few years now. Objective non-Marshall fans have noticed it for some time now. The Herd aren't a bad team at all. There isn't any reason they can't continue to be a winning program. However there isn't anything about Marshall football that makes it immune from reality. Reality is something the Herd fans seem to have had a harder and harder time dealing with each season since they arrived in the MAC. The Herd isn't the tallest kid in the class anymore, and like a de-throned bully, they are just getting bitter and nastier.
On the Marshall game.
On the Marshall game.

You can see the PROP 47 players really taking a toll on the program and the fact that they take so many chances with so many kids. Its also interesting to see the lack of depth that somehow came about especially this year.
Marshall will be in a world of hurt next year if they dont have an offense they graduate 9 starters from their defense.

I agree that Marshall's program has taken a hit the last two seasons, but I disagree with the sentiment that "Marshall will be in a world of hurt next year". The move to ConUSA will soften the criteria needed to make a bowl and have a so-called "successful" season. Six wins and their likely in a bowl in a very weak conference that for some reason has an over-abundance of bowl games. Once the bowl world wises up and starts to give the MAC a few more bids, the move to ConUSA will be a wash at best.redskins4ever wrote:Marshall will be in a world of hurt next year if they dont have an offense they graduate 9 starters from their defense.
