Pot posession and use are crimes, and therefore he should have booted off the team.
Parks is a thug with clearly no judgement or consideration for being a good person, he has no dignity and beat another man for no reason, which assult and battery are crimes, he should be off the team.
this rape deal in Minnesota is the same thing a crime
any athlete at any univ who gets more than the equivalent of a traffic ticket should be off.
I really can not see why in the world you all are defending these guys, I feel so very bad for you all, and ask where do you draw the line?
Oh wait I know....its easy to draw it when looking at a school your not a fan of, but for your own hes such a nice guy, give him a break.
pathetic.
If the cow wears the triangle in the yellow sky you guys would STILL defend these athletes, wouldn't you????

Anthony Turner plead guilty to disorderly conduct, not posession of marijuana.

Marques Parks was CITED for misdemeanor assault. He was not charged with assault and battery because he didn''t injure the other party. IIRC...assault is the attempt to injure, battery is actually causing an injury.

Not that we should let the facts get in the way of a good old fashioned high tech lynching...

If only we all lived in MACMANs perfect little world...good thing he wasn't my judge when I got my underage awhile back, I would probably be in line for death row...

BGSU weak on morals and gone missing is i common sense.
Now you're just ridiculous. You continue to harp on ONE incident, which, by the way, no matter what your stance may be on marijuana use, compares in absolutely no freaking way with doing an unconscious chick and it's old. Very old. Just like everything else you've come up with. Old.
Yet, you guys react the same way when these things happen to BCS schools. funny how you want to "let it go" when it is BG.

None of our student athletes that I have ever heard of have committed a heinous crime like the one in question at Minnesota. I would not let it go if it happened at BG and that's because I hold our student athletes to a very high standard, one which I don't see in a whole lot of the BCS schools.

It seems to happen REPEATEDLY at BCS schools (and Toledo). And as MarkL said, (and I said earlier), videotaping sex with an unconscious woman trumps smoking pot in a car any day. Booker Stanley beating some dude's face in, then going after a woman does too. And like it or not, Coop's boys (and the banished son, MoC) at Ohio State left the microscope open over Columbus for any violations that come about.

I don't think anything should be "let go" at BG. Turner was busted, sat out a game (which I would be open to the argument that it could have been a little harsher, but it is what it is) and it was dealt with. End of story.

That's it-just beg RF to come back on here with the long litany of BG player's offenses. BG muni court records are PUBLIC. Didn't you learn from last time? ;-)

I will say, for the benefit of the little Tiki person, that almost every fan on here was incensed about the Turner incident which was a fairly mundane sort of stupid college kid offense. The Parks thing was a little uglier (both the offense and the victim blaming party that followed) but still minor next to a rape.

point exactly
and I add many of these young men and women are receiving education in trade for their skill on the field, and that they represent the school, and are admired by local youths. they need to be held to the highest standards of human decency and if they break a law...they are done!
and Deyon...your right if i were a judge and you were in my court for underage I would have hit you with the max. While I dont believe in any impedment to any person of age 18 and over from drinking has no bearing, the law is that your not to and you broke it. this is an on going huge problem here. We have far to many laws, far to light of consiqunces for those who break them, heck just read the news and you can read that some phsyco raped a little girl because he all he would get was 10 years and probhation after 4 and he did not think that was that bad.
The universities need hold the highest standards, and BGSU is a complete disappointment...the loss of turner or parks will surely not keep us from any title we are not allowed to play for anyway, nor would their due removals keep us from a MAC title and even if so, they need to be gone, the are BAD EGGS!
Kick them to curb!

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what we refer to as a "conflagration of evil."

Minnesota coach Brewster dismisses four from football team

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four University of Minnesota football players being investigated in a sexual assault case have been kicked off the team, coach Tim Brewster announced Wednesday.

Dominic Jones, a cornerback charged Monday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman in April, and three teammates -- running back E.J. Jones, defensive end Alex Daniels and defensive back Keith Massey were dismissed from the team on Wednesday.

"It is an honor and a privilege to wear the uniform of the University of Minnesota and we have exceedingly high expectations for each of our student-athletes," Brewster said in a statement issued by the university. "We spend a considerable amount of time addressing our players regarding their personal conduct and we will not compromise our values. We are establishing a culture of integrity and we will demand that our players are held accountable for their actions."

Dominic Jones, a junior and one of the team's best defensive players, is accused of having sex with a woman who was "physically helpless" after a night of binge drinking at a campus apartment in early April.

Investigators estimated the woman's blood-alcohol content was more than 0.30 when they say Daniels used his cell phone to film Jones having sex with the woman. Forensic scientists later recovered a portion of the deleted film from the phone and say they have DNA evidence linking Jones to the woman.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Daniels, E.J. Jones and Massey also had sex with the woman earlier in the night. Freeman has not filed charges against those three but said they remain suspects in the case.

Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi said he supported the dismissals.

"I am in full support of the decision of coach Brewster and I appreciate how he has handled this very difficult situation," Maturi said in the statement. "While this issue is deeply disappointing, the Athletics Department is sending a clear and unmistakable message that it will never compromise its code of conduct."

The school said the dismissals do not immediately affect the four players' scholarship status or standing as students at the university, but both are subject to review by the NCAA and the school.
