Let him think what he wants...he's a joke. He clearly has no knowledge of football if he feels Turner lost our games for us last year. Maybe I will show AT these comments...then next year when he leads us to a MAC championship, he will be the one laughin...

I can be optimistic cant I? Or is that forbidden in these parts?

BGFootball,

I'm on that optimistic train with ya....I know we have areas that need to improve but we have as good a shot as anyone in East to get to the title game.

Tell AT to hang in there and bust his azz cuz we're counting on him this fall.

GO FALCONS!!!!

MACMAN:

Though I don't post on these boards a tremendous amount, I read just about every post on the football and both basketball boards, and check the site daily at least.

The main reason I don't post a tremendous amount is because I frequently do not have any intelligent or insightful comments to make that others have not already made.

I think you could learn a lot from me....

As long as you (and everyone else) maintain something resembling reasonable logic, I think everyone will be fine. Let insightfullness be an added bonus haha...

But seriously, I think faulty or completely lacking logic has to be one of my biggest pet peeves. The craziest thing is, a lot of the time these people are essentially right, or at least have an argument to be made, but they get from Point A to Point B by going through Points X, Y, and Z (that is if they offer any rationale at all).

For example, I can see why MACMAN is dissapointed in AT. I think everyone had higher hopes for just about everything that happened last year, regarding him and the rest of the team. I'm willing to listen to a good argument that it should be Sheehan, or Glaud, or Brown, or that I should exercise my eligibility and go out throwing this year (I'd love to hear that argument haha). But don't just say "Oh he sucks get, dump him" and not offer solutions or reasoning.

Just a pet peeve....

P.S. Grant thank you for the award. I'd just like the thank my parents, for making me possible, you, for making this site possible, and MACMAN, for making my post possible. Go Falcons!

I couldn't of said it any better myself......well I guess thats not sayin much, but very well put...

There are things that people say on this site that I really disagree with, but if they show any amount of intelligence I am willing to debate and argue with them in a civil way. I understand people wont agree with the things I say all the time and thats fine, just please have a good argument...I like a challenge 8)

I find that we are focusing on what AT did last season and not looking forward. For example:

last year we ran under a run-first offense where AT was carrying the ball countless times (sometimes an entire offensive series :x :x :x ) and getting beat up... being a little smaller than J5 and especially Omar, this could have clearly taken its toll on him towards the end of the game.

this year we have a new offensive coordinator who happens to be the old QBs coach and will likely allow AT to play to his true strengths. I for one am excited to see what will come of this new look offense.
LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!

Very true. Another thing working against AT last year - the receiving corps was not as strong and will be much stronger this year. Corey is amazing at making any catch and getting open but he's a mid-range, not a down-the-field threat and he really wan't quite healthy until the last few games. Freddie Barnes was turning into a good receiver but was still getting used to the position. Brantley did a good job stepping into a starting role but it was he just didn't have all of the game experience that Sharon and Sanders had when they graduated. Ruiz was still new to the WR position instead of TE. Marques Parks was still not quite himself. Zach Charles got hurt early on just as he was becoming a legit downfield threat. Pronty only had a few games to show off his skills. With all of that in mind, a strong passing game was just not to be last year and I think that AT did a good job with what he was given.

Now for this next year, there's a TON of talent in the receiving corps. With all of the veteran talent and the two big transfers and a very good Derek Brighton, I think AT will have the kind of year everyone has expected him to have since he signed his LOI a few years ago. With a better passing offensive scheme in the works and better personnel to work with, I expect AT to be the most improved player in the conference.

Thank God he's no longer a downfield threat! Cuz at UT last year he sure looked like a downfield threat. He blew by our guys like they were standing still and you had no other receiver who could do that. I remember a thread that he was one of the, if not the fastest guy on the team. I'm looking forward to him just being a mid-range threat.

Meaning the majority of his catches will likely be 5 - 15 yards, not 30+ like Charles Sharon was so good at. Not that Corey can't do well at those as UT found out ...

Corey just needs to work on his consistency when catching the ball. He had a tendency last year to drop balls he shouldn't have dropped.
