All the predictions turn to dust once the season kicks off.

Roll along, you Falcon warriors!

[quote="truth"]Macman, when you say something is gay, what do you mean by that? Thanks for trying out for the ethics police squad, try again in a couple years.
quote]

I think he means, if I read my Webster's New World Dictionary (Second College Edition) correctly:

1. joyous and lively; merry; happy; lighthearted.
or
2. bright; brilliant

I agree with Macman that the new Falcon log is a bright and rather brilliant representation of our mascot. And this year's team should be very joyous and lively as they enjoy success on the field.

It all depends on perspective.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

From a techincal standpoint, he's not saying anything a hundred other people aren't saying here. AT needs to be consistent or he'll be on the bench, we need to improve special teams, the playcalling was at times terrible last year.

The problem I have with Macman is his repeated personal attacks on players. He calls AT a "pothead"...fine he was caught with marijuana LAST YEAR. The University and the leal system have both dealt with the situation and the kid has not done anyting since then. At what point are you going to quit beating on him for one mistake? When do you stop defining him by the one mistake he made? Are you perfect?

He calls Parks a thug becuse he hit some guy outside of a bar...the incident was stupid, but the hockey team that he jocks has players who have done the same damn thing on the ice...hell, the idiot has even advocated selling compilations of BG hockey fights, but he's gonna call some kid who throws a few punches a "thug" while glorifying the same level of violence from the hockey team?

I know he thinks it's funny to be so negative and nasty...but stupid isn't funny, it's just stupid.

In the end this team doomed here is why.
GB worships the spread punt like its some kind god...it is not, it yields more in catastrophic failure than gaines. Should he and by all means I bet he will opt to run all season again...we will give up no less than 7 pts a game to it directly and likey 10-14 indirectly.
He is married to AT...the kid has a terrible progression, and when he does geta pass off its so telegraphed and with out zip the int # will soar! he is uncomfortable int he pocket but to his credit he does carry the ball well and has nice speed...but still lacking in comp to J5 The kid is not a good QB and we should have droped him last season...but GB is some tangled up in commitment to stuff that fails hell put us inthe ground this year instead of doing the right thing and making a change.
the influx of coaches may be good may be bad...I with bad on this but we have nochoice.
As a HC GB is not very good. his play calling has become predictable, and cautious and not very creative. other schools know exactly what is coming..he was a great OC and I think should go back to just those duties..but that ship has sailed.
he is wound up real tight and I think he has reached failure. (oh dont go taunting his record im saying its headed all down hill as a continuation not that he has failed but that he is failing now)
I love Falcon football...but folks with the poor ethical decisions regarding player retention after bad deeds,a nd poorer judgment in game play...were effed.
this year 4 wins
next year a reapeat as long there are no changes. We are the bottom.
Geez, that is painful to attempt to read. Try some punctuation man!

MACMAN,

If GB's "playcalling" has become predictable, then WHY would you suggest he go back to being an OC? Because the OC is usually the guy who's calling the plays, with possible "override" from the HC. If Brandon was a GREAT OC, like you suggested, why did he suddenly NOT become great in playcalling? Perhaps because he WASN'T the OC? :innocent:

Macman has made SOME valid points and I respect the fact that he atleast decided to try and put some thought and reason into one of his posts. The personal attacks are unnecessary, AT is a great athlete...who knows whether hes going to be our QB or how well he is going to play this year...that is yet to be determined. A QB can come a long way in one offseason, especially when he has more experienced guys around him. With all the freshman we had last year and the new JUCO pick ups, I think it is almost impossible for us to be any worse then last year.

Macman if you love falcon football so much, why are u so quick to write them off...have some pride man. Im not sure exactly whats going to happen, but I have learned with falcon football that it is pretty much unpredictable, so I will wait to make my predictions on how they will end up after mid season. Until then, I will hope for the best, and trust the coaches are going to put the best players on the field to entertain us this year. Whats the point in bein so negative?

This is the main issue (well aside from the repeated, and not necessarily correct, namecalling) I have with MACMAN. He's so quick to cast doom and gloom on the football team, yet expect the hockey team to finish top 6 in the CCHA this year. I expect, and hope to see, improvement in both teams, but to figure that the hockey team, which was downright abysmal at times last year (esp. the PP) is in a better position to improve than the football team (who really, even with the misguided special teams and predictable offense, was a late flag at Akron and a mangled, muddy FG attempt vs. Miami(OH) away from 6-6 last year, not to mention beating Temple in every stat except the one that matters in the end) seems ridiculous to me.

Yeah, I agree totally. MacMan is getting a little bit too wound up about us being really bad in football this year. When your also a huge hockey fan and you've just experienced one of the worst records in history, I wouldn't be tearing down another sport right now. I have issues with football too but its not AT's last year pot smoking (hope to God , he's got it out of his system) or certain other player issues as GB has dealt with them just fine up to now. Even as pessimistic as I can be at times, not even I think we'll get only 4 wins. I just can't believe that. Even though I know we probably won't beat MSU, Minny, or BC I still inwardly sorta believe we can if we play extremely well disciplined football. I certainly believe that a Mac East title is well within reach for us this year.

The brunt of the badness last year came from 18 freshman playing , so I expect smarter and better players this year out of the same. If the injury bug stays away this year we are good for at least 6-7 wins IMHO.

OK...I know I'm probably the worst offender on this score and I've probably been a bit overly dickish with most of my comments...but can we just leave the Macman topic in the rearview mirror for a spell? I'm not sure it's healthy for one person to become the topic of an entire forum

Unless it's Jessica Alba....
