Wonder how the turf held up through the rain last night? Anybody try to pull a Rick Dempsey and go sliding around on it?

I'm pretty sure I just caught a glimpse of a shirtless Freak and two wide-eyed freaklings. I guess he went back for seconds after blowing the mortgage at the bookstore.

I was going to run over and get pictures, but it would at least appear that the field is done...? The sidelines look done, all the patches are put down, etc. The only thing I could think of that may still need to be done is a MAC logo on the 30's and trimming up any last bits of turf.

It still needs to be trimmed around the drainage system.

RWT, I'll get right on that...

Spot on, BO. It was flippin H O T today so we had to make a few trips to the Doyt....dodging the suns rays and thunder showers. It was just cooler to go shirtless today. Got my slice of Perry Stadium grass from BG Tim. THANKS BRO!!! Jake's screech echoed very nicely off the East side and Sebo. :-D

What can I say that hasn't been said already? The Doyt looks so different with the Sebo and new turf and I'm tellin ya, there will be a whole new attitude on Game Day. There is still plenty of work to do but wow...I was running late due to a freakin train and had to take a detour. Coach B was kind enough not to make me run laps. BTW, Coach was running today and the dude is in shape.

The weight room itself is most impressive. There are tons of great motivational quotes on the walls, TONS of machines and indoor turf. Walking in the front door, you get a good idea how BiG a deal the Sebo is. The Michael Wilcox gathering room is sweet and has great views of the field. I was able to talk to Coach Ward and he let us out onto the top level balcony and man, what a view of the Doyt from there. Coach B has a sweet view of the field from his office. Coach also gave me a peek at the locker room upgrades. But The Sebo is it...unbelievable facility. Top notch...

The new turf is awesome. We were able to get down on the surface and it's scary how much like real grass the turf is. The logo on the 50 totally rocks. The end zones are B R I G H T. LOL. There are still a few things that need done with the turf. The Band is gonna love their new home! Goal posts still need installed and the grind will probably be going down in the next couple days. July 31 deadline looming..

It was tough to leave town and make the 2+ hour trek back home. We had a late lunch at Al Mar lanes...first time I've had their burgers. Dan knew what he was talking about. And VERY inexpensive...We'll be going there many more times. And Otis Polk was there! I thought it was him but he definitely lost weight. He was excited about Coach Orr and told me to get to as many games and bring as many fans as I could. We stopped by AA to see the new floor.

Grant, thanks for directing us to the grave of the one and only Doyt L Perry. Good seeing you. Watched a bit of the Saddlemire demo. Made a trip to the Union to see the "BGSU WHERLEY'S" tile. Drove by old apartments on East Merry and Lehman. Made sure to check out the progress with the new tennis courts and track. FOR THE LOVE OF DAVE WOTTLE, PLEASE TEAR DOWN THE BLEACHERS AT THE TRACK!!! THEY ARE IN ABYSMAL SHAPE. Hit Steve and Barry's in the mall to pick up a couple items and swung by SBX as well. I nabbed a new Falcon helmet magnet and the Freaklings each got a sweet BG hat on the clearance rack. $5 for each for these sweet, traditional logo hats!! And to top it all off, filled up the tank at the gas station on Wooster across from BW3 for $2.41 a gallon. Whew...I even saw the giant vagina rock from a distance. LOL!

Only another 4 weeks til we roll into town again for the Fall Sports Kickoff event. Thanks to Coach Brandon for taking time out of his busy schedule to give us a tour and his patience with us tracking in a bit of mud. Sorry about that, man. Got a chance to say hi to Coach McCall and Coach Rothenbuhler talked with us for a few minutes...and I have to thank Coach Ward for the brand spankin new 2007 media guide. That was very cool and I avoid waiting til a week before the season to get it. The cover rocks. We head to Oregon in a few weeks and the guide along with Phil Steele's preview are going. I'll have it memorized by 8/22.

One other thing I wanted to mention...there were all sorts of workout schedules on a bulletin board. ALL of them included the phrase "No excuses". I know we have some work to do but I'm pumped up for the season to start yesterday. I think the whole program took a long, hard look in the mirror after the 2006 season and decided BG Football means doing whatever it takes to win and contend for titles and bowl bids. Add the Sebo and new turf and there is a very strong energy coming out of the Doyt these days. Camp opens in one week...players report next Saturday, August 4. 5 weeks til the opener at Minnesota...let's get ready to rock.

GO FALCONS!!! 35 days....

Freak, I talked to BG Tim tonight, and I am very happy to hear that you and the Freaklings had such a good time today. I still can't believe I caught you guys on the Sebo Cam today! I literally got home from work, opened it up and there you all were! :)

I absolutely can not wait to get down to BG and have the type of day that you and the boys did today!

It was awesome you got to meet with Coach Brandon. I know that my (and everyone else's) pictures don't really do justice to how great the Doyt looks now. I'm still hoping I get to tour the Sebo soon. Of course, I don't have the connections you do.

Just do what I did and give yourself a self-tour. I think I got into most of the rooms, and the ones I didn't get into I assumed had nothing important in them. I even walked into the coach's office to look around, and the secretary gave me the strangest look.

I stopped at the Doyt briefly today.

I don't remember seeing this mentioned, but it is now obvious what they are doing with all this seating.

On the west side, at least, the chairbacks used to be in the first few rows, closest to the field. These are being pulled out of that location and moved up just beyond the main north/south walkway, so that people who pay for chairbacks will now get a much better view.

This makes a ton of sense. I bet they'll be able to charge more for chairbacks now.

What they were doing on the east side was waterproofing everything since the locker room was renovated. The biggest issue with the chairbacks is on the west side where those in the first couple rows can't see past a standing student section. I always thought they needed to just make everything from 40 to 40 (or maybe even 35-35) chairback from the bottom to the top. Also, those chairs need replaced. They're too small and too uncomfortable. Get new, shiny orange chairs.

Yeah, I'd dig orange chairs. The ones we have now look really weathered.

But this is still a good, scrappy move for now.

Yeah, it was a great day! BTW, Coach B said that season ticket holders that attend the Fall Kickoff Event on 8/25 will get a tour of the Sebo Center as well.

I agree about the chairback seats needing replaced and I'd love to see orange seats.

33 days...a measly 33 days until FALCON FOOTBALLLLLLLLLLLL!!

When I was last in town they had started the waterproofing above the locker room area and it looked great. I would have been nice if they had the time and or money to treat the whole stadium. That color of gray gives that area a more finished look and would have been a nice cosmetic improvement for the start of the season. I love the idea of orange reserved chairs. I think if we give the AD a couple more years we may not recognize the stadium when compared to pictures of today. It's a good time to be a Falcon.
