Thank God I'm not alone!
To be honest, I've always wondered about the LT references some of you guys had made about the old logo. Now I see that I wasn't alone in that...gues if you didn't know much about BG, you might've seen it more readily, but I NEVER saw an LT until I looked at the logos under my name this morning. I've always seen a falcon head.

Back when I was in Junior High and started swimming for BGSC at cooper pool I will admit I had a hard time figuring out what the heck LT stood for. If you look at some of the logos that were used around the rec center back then, I don't remember them having as much of a curve to them that you see in say the helmet in the banner. The logo looked very flat in some cases and an "LT" was more visible.

It's easier to see if you separate them a little.

I like it, too.BGSU33 wrote:The Helmet Project website has our new helmet listed. I must say, after looking at all of our designs, I like the new look we will be using this year the best out of any of the helmets we have worn. I really like the new font we are using across the board with BG and Bowling Green. I think it looks fresh, crisp and sharp.

I kind of expected the new logo, without a peek-a-boo effect. I wonder if that would have been better. But we did do quite a few mock ups, and it didn't seem to work on the orange because of all the orange in the logo.
It's good. I think it will keep growing on me. The font is definitely contemporary -- and yet, there is something old school about an interlocking BG.
It may work fabulously with these old school brown jerseys they are wearing -- evoking tradition like Ohio's uniforms do.

Just expressing how many many fans and alumni feel about the very bad decesion to change tradition....but then again...the univ is all about tearing down tradition...to create new ones...via the force them down your throat plan vs the dare I say traditional method of letting traditions create themselves...
Did you hear...a group of students, a few alumni and a marketing company have decieded to change the gold dome at ND to copper...because they want a new tradtion and icon. and no more Irish they are going to be know as the Fighting Latvian's

Comparing BG to Notre Dame is a little extreme, don't you think?
The AD has stated that we've opted to go with the new logo to give the university's athletics a uniform look across the board. I too prefer the LT logo myself, but I understand the greater importance of the consistent appearance. As a "mid-major", those times when we get exposure beyond the midwest are valuable, whether it be cracking the Top-25 in football or making the women's basketball Sweet 16. I can definitely see the value of wanting national audiences to be able to recognize one logo as Bowling Green State University when we're fighting with the big boys at the top of whatever sport.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe national exposure and recognizance is one of the bigger problems facing Notre Dame athletics these days...

Dear MACMAN,
Don't you find your signature image a tad bit ironic considering all the whining, pissing, and moaning you spew on this board in an almost non-stop fashion regarding the logos?
The more you express your opinions and share with us tidbits of your daily life the more I think you are a giant ball of irony.

As GC stated in "Ask the AD", I'm sure there was a bit of a stir when the logo was changed to the "LT" Falcon. The "LT" logo isn't our traditional logo. IN fact, I would be hard pressed to call anything our traditional logo. The closest thing I can think of is the university Seal.

I'm fascinated. So our new logo is now the product of political correctness -- the biggest right wing windmill since "welfare queens?"MACMAN wrote:a bad copy of the PC created Red Hawk...its just all so sad.
Do explain. Or, better yet, maybe we could bring that knucklehead David Horowitz to campus to explain to us how a shadowy conspiracy of feminazis and radical environmentaliss fostered the new logo.
