big ten network is now, for the first time, willing to lower its price of $1.10 per subscriber. They are feeling the pressure and the anger from the fans since they took two games away from OSU, UM, 3 from UW and 3 from PSU so far. Fans can not watch those games right now and people are growing more pissed every day. I am switching to Direct Tv anyways so I can get sunday ticket but I hope the big ten network fails..I don't like where it is going to take college football. It will make it a PPV only sport in 10 years. This is just the beginning (ESPNU and now BTN, next is SECTV).
We will all need cost of living raises just to be able to watch ncaa football and bball which used to be free.
The Big 10/11 to consider expanding.

All the more reason to buy season tickets and head to the games themselves...home and away. The Freaks will be at 10 of the 12 regular season games in '07...tekekini wrote:big ten network is now, for the first time, willing to lower its price of $1.10 per subscriber. You will love the Sunday ticket, except the price dramatically jumps each year. I wonder if we will have to pay extra for the Big Ten channel or if it will me included in the sport pack.tekekini wrote:big ten network is now, for the first time, willing to lower its price of $1.10 per subscriber. The way I understand it is that it will not cost extra. It is included with the basic plus package. You do not have to buy the sports package to get BTN. The BTN is not allowing provders to place their network in sports packages that cost extra.tiznow wrote:You will love the Sunday ticket, except the price dramatically jumps each year. I'll believe that the Big 10 is interested in adding a 12th team when they actually do it. As Tekekini pointed out, that would force a Big 10 championship game, and I really don't think they want that.
As much as the current system makes people complain, it is designed to favor the money schools. And let's face it, the top teams in the Big 10 are money schools....perhaps even two of the richest at that.
The only thing that a 12th team will do is jeopardize the the BCS contention of the Big 10. It will deliver a loss to the 2nd best team (or at least, as the record shows) in the Big 10. That will undoubtedly reduce the frequency at which the Big 10 recieves an at-large bid.
Look at the SEC. They have a championship game, and nearly every year one of their teams ends up dropping out of the top 10 after losing in it. I've always thought it was total crap, since that team gets penalized for a loss on a 13 game schedule when other teams stay put (or move up) after a week they didn't even play. Furthermore, the team that wins the championship game rarely moves up in the rankings after the win, which just adds insult to injury for that conference. To be honest, I don't think that the rankings should be recalculated after the conference championships, but that is another discussion.
I know, it is fun to speculate, but I really don't see this ever happening. Perhaps the Big 10 would consider dropping a team (Northwestern or Illinois maybe), but I don't see the Big 10/11 becoming the Big 10/12.
