JoeFalcon lists our improvements etc and says we are keeping pace and passing most in the MAC. He is 100% right and he left out the brand new lockerroom for football. It will be very, very nice and a huge upgrade in terms of preparation, player comfort and recruiting.
Go Falcons!
ff1,
Coach B gave me a quick peek into the new lockerroom and it is definitely a huge upgrade. Much better and more spacious than before.
Sure there is a list of things to do at BG....and they'll get done. As long as people remember it takes money to get things done so any kind of donation for these facilities, buying season tickets and joining the Falcon Club all help.
29 days....I'm gonna explode if the opener doesn't get here soon...

What exactly did they do to the locker room? I never reallly heard about the work in that area until recently. Did they expand the actual location by converting other rooms that were freed up with the new space in the Sebo or did the room expand into the corner part of the Sebo? I hope we do a photo gallery of all the new additions once everything is finished.

33,
The lockerroom is much bigger now from what I recall. We were only in there for a minute or two because a good number of workers were busting tail. I do think the space freed up due to the move into the Sebo is what's been converted. It just seemed so much more spacious than before.

I like the idea of a berm being added to the other end zone. That would give Bowling Green -- what? -- two hills? You'd just want to make sure anyone climbing it doesn't pass out from the change in elevation after spending so much time at the same level.
I'm glad to hear about the new locker room. Players spend a lot of time in the lockerrooms. A comfortable and well-equipped one can really be a boost for team morale.

Badger,
I didn't get the impression that we WERE putting in a berm/hill on the south end... would be a good idea, but would also affect the sight lines from the Falcon Club tent, assuming it's true.... or were you just saying that you think it WOULD be a good idea to do it? If so, I'd agree...it'd create a "bowl like" feel to the stadium with the North end already occupied by the SEBO.

'61,
Actually, I was commenting on something BGSU33 said. He mentioned some other MAC schools are doing that and thought it might be something B.G. would consider. Like you, I thought it would fill out the bowl shape. I hadn't thought about the Falcon Club tent. I've only seen that on TV a couple of times.
Someone else (maybe it was you) mentioned the "boutique approach" for MAC schools. I think that's the right approach. There's no need for a MAC school to seat 45,000 for football -- but there is a need to provide a college-like atmosphre for players and fans alike. From what I've seen, adding the SEBO, the new turf and the logos and the other developments are big steps in the right direction.

And I don't. Because hills look freakish and unnatural in Bowling Green.
I’m not trying to change your mind, but as far as hills looking “freakish and unnatural in BG,” have you ever been to Ball State’s campus? The part of Ball State’s campus that the football stadium sits on, and most of Muncie for that matter, is about as flat as a pancake - just like BG is. When I was last at Ball State when BG played there in 2005, they sort of already had a small graded incline in the north endzone that people were sitting on (they used to have bleachers here several years ago) and they had tents lined up just behind that small section of grass. And they aren’t putting in a hill, it’s a grass berm with a colonnade with brick columns. It looks pretty cool IMO:
I think that the University has other plans for the south endzone. If you notice, the only permanent fixture there is the scoreboard. The more I think I about it, I truly feel they want that area to be the new Convo home. I might make a trip over there tonight to grab some more pictures and see what the new fencing looks like.

I also have been hoping that if they do build a Convo that they do it next to the south endzone to close in that end, maybe with a small pedestrian plaza in between the two facilities. The master plan had it more over by the parking lot and closer to Wooster. I hope it doesn't go in there. I know the Fieldhouse wasn’t built with the main purpose of an indoor football practice facility, but I always thought it would have been cool if they would have built it out by the Doyt to close in one of the endzones or have to next to the stadium like some schools have done.
33; The convo/pedestrian area is the direction I lean. Build the convo a little seperate from the stadium, and construct/plant a Doyt Perry monument with a somewhat elaborate, but tasteful garden around it to connect the stadium and the convo. That statue is way up on my list of things that the Doyt needs.
Add another MAC school to the list that is going to have a grass hill/berm in an endzone. Aside from Ohio's hill, the berm Ball State has put in this summer, the grass hillside at EMU and the berm Akron will have in its new stadium, Kent State is also going to add a hill at Dix Stadium. The hill seems to be a trend in the MAC. Here's an article that mentions the one at KSU:

KSU's stadium is pretty much a dump anyway. I doubt a hill behind the end zone is going to help the Flashes keep pace with other conference parks like the Doyt, Kelly-Shorts at CMU (really like that stadium), and Waldo Stadium at WMU, not to mention Akron's new facility.
I can't wait to go there when we play @ Kent this season
