I was trying to find some info on why he is not listed on the roster, but as a commit on INCH.com.
I stumbled across this site searching for info on Josh Unice after a guy at the rink in AZ where I play said he caved to pressure from Chicago and signed with the OHL. I was really excited about those two when I saw them listed as BG commits, thought we might this thing turned around, now it looks like neither will show up....
I guess I should give some info on myself as a new member, as it appears many of you a very familiar with each other. Started playing hockey in BG when I was 7. Started going to BG games in 77-78...great team with Byron Schutt, Brian Stankiewz, Morrow, Pelland, Wells, Titanic, Markell etc...Went to the home NCAA game against CC and to the final four in RI. My dad used to take tickets for BG games at the West entrance(section A entrance) then worked the back players entrance from 78-88 so I went to games for free and met most of the players and coaches from those teams. Was all set to go to Olympia in 79 until the NCAA screwed us and made us go play at Minny against Brooks and the Gophers, while worse teams got home ice. You know Mason says that 78-79 team was still his best ever and he had some good MSU teams. Guess they didn't want to make the "mistake" they made in 78 again. I lived through the painful JLA loses, being snubbed in 83 and finally Lake Placid in 84. What a night..... I went to BG from 88-92 had some classes with Blake and Emerson, played a little club hockey, but mostly just IM and pick up. Moved out here to AZ in 92 kept up with BG hockey through friends and recently the internet, although they don't give you much of a reason to care lately. I still play mens league and pick up at Oceanside Arena, which is where Nesdill is from, although I have never met him. People see my BG hat or the jersey I play pick up in sometimes and ask how the Falcons and Mike are doing. I usually say.."don't ask". Man it kills me what has happened to this once great program.....schools like Miami passing us by ...sheezz......Anyway enough about me.....
...so what happened to Vargas....
Brennan Vargas??
I know nothing about Vargas, but welcome to the boards!!! We've got a lot of folks like you that grew up around BG hockey, and are in just as much of a painful head-scratching mode about recent history. If you get the itch during the season, there's a faithful group that usually hits the chat room here, and when/if it gets too ugly we just drink more and talk about something else.
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."

Welcome to the boards!! And as TG said, many of us have been around BG Hockey for a LONG time. We were some of the ones who used to run like hell to get the seats on the glass in Section A back in the 80's. Times are tough right now, but I am forever the hockey optimist and am hoping for a lot of improvement this year!! TG is right about hanging out in the chat room during the games, as there are always a good number of us there if we are not at the games.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

He's going to be playing another year with the US NTDP. He's a kid from Minnesota a 6'0 almost 200 pound centre. A line three guy for team USA. Scored at will in High School hockey down in Minnesota. Hopefully team Canada can send him home packing again this IIHF tournament, but thats another story.
Dave Ellett is a hero. A Bowling Green Falcon and a Former Jet and Maple Leaf. What more can a Winnipegger ask for.
