Cheatem and Barnes should play Sept 01....

I told you people last winter that Willie Geter was gonna be the man

Brandon can't resist taking shots at last year's kicker's can he? A breath of fresh air... Those guys must have really ticked him off.

Noticed that as well.

I think the feeling was pretty well mutual.

I hope Geter comes in as advertised...you can never have too much speed.

Brandon may be correct in implying that last year's kickers were a pain (how would we know) but considering the blocking given for all kicking and "The Formation" for punting he should attempt to avoid discussing the situation at all costs.

I actually watched 30 minutes of practice Saturday (long story), and the field goal unit worked part of that.

In short - they looked awful. Most kicks were errant - and I mean not even close - and at least one got blocked.

So I wouldn't be expecting a 180-degree turnaround.

This quote comes from Bird, but it makes me think this is a jab at Ellis and Rojas:

"I can check at any time and they're over there working with the long snappers. ...they're not sitting around drinking water and playing around..."

This is great news!!! Freddie just always seems to be hobbled by something, doesn't he? Hopefully he can strengthen that ankle up and be ready for the season-opener and have a healthy year this season. As for Cheatem’s separated shoulder, I wonder how bad of a separation it is? Hopefully the next few weeks will get him back up to speed. Although, I must say, now every time I hear about a separated shoulder, I have a bad flashback of Omar Jacobs rolling to his left and getting driven into the ground by a WMU player. Little did we know then how big that play would eventually turn out to be. It seems like our program was just punched in the stomach ever since that play and we haven’t recovered since. Sort of like the major setback we seemed to have for years after the running of the fat punter.

Coaches don't like kickers...they'll tolerate their kickers if they do a good job, but by and large I've always been under the impression that coaches view kickers as a nuisance

Flip,

I distinctly remember you raving about Geter last Feb...and it seems this kid can flat out F L Y. Great to hear...

As far as the kickers from 2006...Alonso and Sean are no longer on the team. Nick and Sinisa are now here. I wish no ill toward the kickers from last year and just want the kicking game to improve for 2007.

I like the way Ryan Autullo wrote the article and wasn't timid about throwing those horrible stats out like that...because they were that bad.

Almost time....almost time.

That is a widely held opinion among almost all football players that I've been around as well.

Players & Coaches don't like Kickers. They're in the way of a team trying hard to win.

To further that opinion? They're over to the side practicing with the long snapper, which makes sense; but while they're doing that all the rest of the team is busting their tails running drills and hitting.

Adam Sandler had it right with the Lonesome Kicker...

My favorite part of that article: "It was really clear cut to come to BG because the coaches around here were passionate, and they gave me the feeling like this team needed me to win, whereas Northern Illinois didn't give me that impression. They just said it would be nice to have you."
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I don't know about consistency, but in my walk-by yesterday, I saw a high, spiraling punt and I smiled.

If you had seen the half-dozen or so field goal attempts that I saw, you might have vomited!
