All first round picks, none have lived up to that billing (Yet, Rodgers still has a chance...)
When looking for info about this subject I found this interesting analysis:

It was a precurser to the '06 draft so it's a year or so out of date, but still pretty interesting.
They figure Michigan is QB U. I do think USC may be taking that title in the near future though. Palmer, Leinart, Booty(?)...Plus all the UM QBs but Brady have pretty much fallen from favor.

Chad Henne will be a bust if he's taken in the first round. That boy has a big-time arm, but he's a MORON. He doesn't have the instincts or smarts necessary to succeed at the next level, and he doesn't have enough physical ability to make up for that. He puts up good numbers, and he's just fine for big-time college, but I wouldn't want my NFL team to draft him. No way.Flipper wrote:I don't think Chad Henne is anothe rBrady...I don't even think he's another Elvis Grbac. They have a freshman from Texas up there this year named Ryan Mallett who sounds like the real deal at QB though.
As far as the actual discussion, I'd have to go Michigan.

A nice grab by Sanders, then a good hustle play after getting stripped on his second reception (currently being reviewed). I'm hoping when/if Quinn gets in, they can hook up a few times. As has been discussed, Steve seems destined for the practice squad, but getting in a groove with the first round pick QB can't be a bad thing.
Sharon has 2 catches (27 and 11 yards), but two straight incompletions his way from David Garrard, who seems to like going Chuck's way.
Suisham has a PAT and a kickoff to the 4.
The Chargers are on, too, but following a center is too hard, and I don't know that Mruczkowski has played yet.

First off, no Chad Henne is not the next Tom Brady. No one in college football right now has shown me that they are. However, I don't think he will be an NFL bust either. He has a really strong arm and last year started to show some maturity in taking care of the football. Sure he's on a good team, but he also plays a lot of good defenses. He might be a moron to some, but he sure looked like a calm, cool and collected genius throwing a TD pass to end Penn State's otherwise National Championship bound season 2 years ago.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

He was about to have a chance at winning it from 50+, but Brunell threw a pick (didn't see it, just read the play by play) to end the game.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Suisham's FG was beautiful. Would've been good from 60.

It was retarded, too. Brunell didn't make a decision that a vet should make. 10 seconds left, no timeouts from about the 38, down by 2. Let's be really smart and throw a slant into coverage. Dang, when did Sanders get in there? That Browns-Lions game was on NBC 24 here in BG area so I was watching it for a good while but never saw Sanders. What # is Sanders? Nice to see him getting some throws his way too. Sanders has the prototypical size that NFL teams want but Sharon seems to be in a better position with the WR fiasco going on in Jacksonville. None of the presumed starters for the Jags are doing spectacular as of yet and Sharon could slip in as the 4 or 5th receiver there.

Steve is #83. He had three or four catches last night, one of which was a pretty great one diving over the middle. He had one drop, as I recall, but he was layed out and the QB (I think it was Dorsey) led him a bit too far. I am pretty impressed with his play. Let's hope the Browns are, too.

Yeah, I just saw a short highlight on the local news of Steve makin' a diving catch in the last few mins I think when Brady played. I just checked the espn box score and Sanders was the 2nd leading receiver with 3 catches for 40yds. Here's to hoping Sanders get more chances in the remaining pre-season games.Bleeding Orange wrote:Steve is #83.
