HS football @ Perry Stadium this Friday
According to the Fremont Ross message board the Perrysburg-Fremont Ross game this Friday has been moved from Pburg to Perry Stadium. Weather is a factor. Seems Perry Stadium has become an all-weather stadium.

I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
I challenge someone to find a negative for high schools to play games here. You get to expose potential athletes and students to the university. Not to mention the possibility of fundraising.

Well, now I know where I'll be on my birthday.
Ross is coached by Derek Kidwell, the Fostoria QB who was Mr Football 1991, went to BG and was screwed over for some reason.
Fremont Ross instituted a pay-for-play setup last year. Charles Woodson heard about it and gave Ross enough money so that no athlete has to worry about that.

3 games now
6 different high schools
From all directions except West of BG
Wood, Sandusky, Lucas, Hancock and on the tri-county (Wood, Hancock, Seneca) Fostoria area
Good spread of marketing.
I suspect after many HS fields get torn up this weekend a few more schools might find the Field Turf attractive on a Friday night, Saturday afternoon or any other time it may be available.

In much the same way we screwed over Scooter this year.Dayons_Den wrote:Didn't it have something to do with the letters B and E and a school building?bgbill wrote:Well, now I know where I'll be on my birthday.

Enough for most of the football players grades 7-12. Don't think the other sports were included.bgbill wrote:Well, now I know where I'll be on my birthday.

Yeah, he donated $45,000 for football. This covers 120 kids to play, so some kids still had to pay to play. The powers that be over there, instead of spreading out the $45,000 evenly amongst all football players and just making them all pay like $20, decided that it would be better to just make the excess players pay full price, including those that had paid early to get it out of the way.

I suspect this is the case as well. Perrysburg's field went through a similar debacle to end their season last year, in terms of field conditions, and it appears now that they are trying to take it as easy as possible on their football grass. There appears to be a new, separate set-up on the junior high campus (where the field is located) to accommodate jr. high football, and I recently saw a Perrysburg home soccer game on BCSN being played on a different field in the city, as opposed to the usual home in the stadium.FalconTurf wrote: I suspect after many HS fields get torn up this weekend a few more schools might find the Field Turf attractive on a Friday night, Saturday afternoon or any other time it may be available.
I would say its a good decision. When I drove down I-75 for school last winter, it was a toss up who's field looked worse, PHS or BGSU.
Finally a senior!

That would be a pretty good bet DD. I believe my dad said that they are seriously looking into it and have had some product samples and possibly a trip to a local stadium with it.Dayons_Den wrote:I predict Perrier's Burg gets field turf within the next 15 months at Steineker Stadium.

I believe the Field Turf playing surface for football will be as common as all-weather tracks. The big schools first are lining up first and when the price comes down a little the smaller schools will be all over it too.PGY Tiercel wrote:That would be a pretty good bet DD. Yes, I believe we will see them all over the place. What's more, playing on a grass surface will seem as out of place as playing on astroturf once did. Heck, speaking of all weather tracks, down in the Hopewell-Loudon district, they still have a small 4-lane gravel track, and their stands for football are wooden bleachers. I saw this and was in shock that such tracks even existed lol.
