Geter has my brain spinning. Give credit to Flip who stated back in Feb during the class announcement that Geter would be a terror. I simply can't wait to see this kid play. Sounds like a BiG time player that fell thru the BCS cracks.
As far as the comments about the kickers, I think it would be best to move on and concentrate on the new kickers. I wish Sean and Alonso the best and hope they do well in whatever it is life holds for them. All I know is I wasn't in the locker room or on the practice fields and don't know what happened day to day.

Not touching the kicker comments, the fire Brandon comments or MacMan's sexuality. However I am pretty pumped up for the season to start. I am excited to see how much our team has improved and I am excited to see us take it to Minnesota in the season opener!

I read the article and started to get excited that we have one of those gems the BCS schools looked over. I am still excited about that.
Then I started saying to myself: WHY! WHY! WHY! Why would a coach want to bring up anything about the problems of last year.
I would suggest that GB focus on all the positive things that have happened since last season and leading into this season. Sebo Center, FieldTurf, great young recruit at RB and even some good new kickers while never mentioning last year.
IMO this year is looking better by the day over last year's preseason. It may not be a championship year but this certainly looks to be a year of contention which will provide hope for the future. I hope that we can all see the potential for this program and put the past behind us.

The head coach is not all about X's and O's. He has to make the fans excited about the year. Brandon knows that the kicking problems last year weren't Ellis alone (I'm still of the belief that while the Shield is a shitacular formation, the times when Rojas did have time to get the kick off is was about 20 yards and in the 3rd row). Brandon will never be a master orator. Anyone who's ever heard him speak knows that he's no Lombardi. However, as the head coach he needs to make sure that the loyal fan base, that's seen the awful special teams of the past 2 years, will have a reason to think things have changed. Brandon was saying the same things last year and no one was taking shots at Brandon then for burying Timchenko.
I love you guys, but there's more to this year then:
1) Turf
2) Logo
3) Fire Brandon
THANK YOU!!!!

I really must be missing somethin, I see nothing wrong with the comment Coach Brandon made. He simply stated that he wouldnt of been able to do that last year. Its true, our special teams was terrible last year as you all know...is it all Sean and Alonsos fault? Absolutely not. Is it the coaches fault? Maybe. But plain and simple, we wouldnt of been able to do that last year. Maybe hes just saying that the special teams is much improved from last year and he is excited about that? Some of you need to chill out...

As a totally unbiased observer..well, at least not having a horse in this race as I hated your kickers with as much fervor as your coach since all were part of BG's program, let me say this. Had Brandon made that statement to the press I doubt a word would be said here. EXCEPT that he has made constant, unremitting comments like this to the press-it does smack of Dakich's efforts to deflect blame for the lack of success. He just never misses the opportunity.

I understand what you are saying and I know he has made some questionable comments, but I still see nothing wrong with saying what he said. Whether you want to believe it or not, its true, they wouldnt of been able to do that last year. By no means am I a GB supporter, but give the man a break, he is excited that we are beginning to show signs of a kicking game.
No offense to Sean and Alonso, because they are great kids, but that is in the past and I think people should just be excited about the fact that we have started showing improvement in STs instead of trying to find any possible thing to attack the coach. For those of you that want to say the STs was the coaches fault, well obviously he has done something to improve it, so be happy. 8)

Does this mean the extinction of the 745 consecutive QB draws?1987alum wrote:If this kid is anything close to Wolfe, look out.
If Geter is the real deal, we should have a nice rotation of RBs. Bullock is a good option to begin with, mix in Ransom (assuming he can get past this hammy problem) and add Geter and we've got a ground game.

I don't mean to pick nits.....okay, so I do mean to pick nits, but according to Sean's father, they DID do this last year...on multiple occasions.....more succesfully than this year.
And how do you know special teams are better? We haven't played a game yet. We heard this same glowing stuff last year about how awesome the new freshman kickers were, and then we were the worst team in the country on special teams. They can boom punts and nail figgys (on the second try) all they want in practice. The point remains that the kicker and punter are a tiny part of the special teams problem. Until Brandon and his staff can iron out the larger issue with scheme, protection, and coverage, Vinateiri and Ray Guy would suck back there for us.

If Tyler Sheehan is going to be starting, I doubt we'll be seeing any QB draw calls. That guy has rocks for feet.Matty B wrote:Does this mean the extinction of the 745 consecutive QB draws?1987alum wrote:If this kid is anything close to Wolfe, look out.

Unless Brandon wants to intentionally get him injured so he can justify putting Turner back on the field...

There is an article in the BG news today about Brandon getting ready to name Sheehan the starter. If that is indeed true. We will not see any QB draws this year, THANK GOD!
in the article GB is quoted saying that he would throw 80 times if he could. Hopefully that is a sign that we are getting back to the style we ran with Omar at the helm.
GO FALCONS!!!
