It'll be closer than most people think.

BG will be a perfect 2/2 on FG. A late interception will perserve the win.

Anyone remember in 2001 when BG beat Missouri in the opener? It will be similar. BG will spoil the debut of Brewster. I am not sure if they will light fireworks off like they did at Columbia.

I'll give the nod to BG...Cuz I wear orange colored glasses and think MN is in a world of hurt right now. I really feel our D will have a great game and be able to handle a MN offense that is struggling to switch from the power running game to the spread.

ST's, of course, will be huge...as will Tyler Sheehan's play. IF these areas are much improved, BG will win this game. Heck, we ran the ball on Wisky and OSU last year. MN's D was the 113th rated D in the nation last year. No doubt BG CAN win this game.

tiznow,
I think you make a great point about the 2001 MO game.

BG 24, Minnesota 17.

BG pops beastial wrath in the first half, lays a frost trap on the field, and kites minnesota on the scoreboard the rest of the game. Any WoW players? Our defense has 5/5 improved concussive shot.

We're the hunters this week.

BG wins 34 - 30 .

Quite a thriller, as O'Drob gets 2 sacks, and Superstar Freddie Barnes designs a play where he can throw to himself for the game winning touchdown. AZZ fans still critical of Coach Brandon as pre-game match consists of turkey sandwhiches instead of tuna salad made with dolphin safe tuna.

I'm going to say we win this game. Minnesota has a new coach and their offense is completely different. If they are struggling with timing and getting it down like reports indicate, this gives our defense a margin of error, which I think is huge. The other wild card is Sheehan at starting QB. If he throws well and doesn't turn the ball over, that will help our running game immensely, enough to the point that we could put 28-30 points on the board, which I think is how many we need to win.

Prediction

Bowling Green 28
Minnesota 24

A record 65-yard field goal as time expires wins it for BG.

I'm not confident BG is going to put up the points stated in this thread.

BG still offensively drunk after last season: Minny: 31 BG 13

Based on you're prediction RUIT, it would appear that BG is still defensively drunk as well. Is this the case now?

Hopefully Brewski is not doing a lot of game planning for Geter and we can surprise them a little bit (ala Wolfe vs. BG in 2004). I think this one falls on the arm of Sheehan and whether he can get the ball to Corey and Freddie. I think that is asking too much from a first time starter.
