Chuck is too talented not to make a team somewhere. I hope he survives this last cut.

If Jacksonville designates him back to the practice squad, doesn't he have to clear waivers to get there? Based on the camp he's had, some team that's weak at WR, like Atlanta, Cleveland, Baltimore, Oakland, Kansas City, or somewhere like that will likely take him off waivers. That's what happened with PJ Pope last year when Chicago designated him for practice squad, Green Bay picked him up.

Correct. If you're on a practice squad, you're fair game to the rest of the league, but the team that takes you has to put you on the active roster (so no one laterally moves between practice squads)

As strange as it may sound, the firewall where I work blocks out USA Today, but I can go to any other sport, news site etc. So I wasn't able to read that article, however I saw this on Fox sports last evening.

News: Broussard is competing for the final wide receiver spot on the Jacksonville roster with Charles Sharon.
Impact: Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio already has said Broussard might be too fast to clear waivers and join the practice squad. The decision could come down to whoever plays better in Thursday night's preseason finale against Washington. Broussard, from San Jose State, has six receptions for 111 yards in the preseason. (STATS - Tue. Aug 28, 2007)

Was this the same thing as on USA Today? I hope Charles the best, but I agree with everyone else, that there are so many teams that need a WR, he should get a look. Hopefully he wins the job Thursday with his performance. The last game the Jags played, they only went his way one time.

When he first gets cut he is basically put on waivers and can sign with any team for their active roster, or for any practice squad in the league as well, if he would like. However, once he is on a practice squad THEN any team that signs him would have to put him on the active roster.

I have no doubt in my mind that Sharon can be every bit as good as Reggie Williams, unfortunately he's a former first round pick and they don't yet want to label him the bust that he is. In his 4th year last year he set career highs in receptions & yards with 52 for 616 yards...whoopee!

Put Sharon on hte field as a starter and I think he could put up those numbers...SOMEBODY has to catch the ball...

Yeah your right Hammb, Sharon could easily produce the numbers Williams had last year if he's a starter this year. But negatively for Sharon its probably better for their fanbase moral if their former 1st Rnd draft pick makes it and lets face it , its probably sexier to keep the 6'4 212lb WR who's fast over the 6'0 185lb'er who doesn't run a sub 4.4 40.

We already have one former Falcon struggling to make the roster as a WR. Sharon's path wouldn't be any easier.

Chuck with 3 catches over the first three Jacksonville drives tonight with 4 passes thrown his way. Around 50 yards receiving. Not sure what else he could do to make that team.

Jacksonville is playing Washington tonight. Suisham with 2 XP's (no FG attempts) and 2/3 kickoffs have gone to the goal line. The other was fielded at the 5.

Chuck looked good tonight. The editor Vic Ketcham said that Jacksonville might put their 2nd round pick Mike Walker (from Central Florida) on the IR. Apparently, he isn't quite healed from his knee reconstruction a year and a half ago. If they do that, and keep 6 WR's, Sharon will be on the list. If not, he still may make the roster if Broussard gets placed on the practice squad.

Hold on Chuck!

I hope so too, but Del Rio stated he would be afraid someone would take Broussard if they place him on the practise squad because of his speed.

Chuck seems to have done everything possible to make the Jags. Good luck Chuck!

I thought that was interesting as well. If the Jags are foolish and try that I hope someone does pick up Charles.

Not as afraid as someone taking a former third round pick. Think about it. Two similar guys are availabe, one was a third round pick, one is an undrafted free agent. Which one do teams think have a higher ceiling if they pan out?

Yeah and there will be a number of former UDFA who looked good in camp available on the waiver wire when all is said and done - it happened to Cole Magner and it looks like it might happen to the Sandman, too.

It's a tough business, for sure.
