I think Davis and Kreider are both going to make the team. If Haynes keeps getting healthier, I have a hard time believing they'd cut him. It comes down to whether or not they want a sixth back, and if they don't, which 2 of the Davis/Haynes/Russell group they keep. I like what I've seen from Russell, and I'm not sure he'd last on the PS.

I have to respectfully disagree with this assesment. I've heard people call Corey a possesion receiver and I think that is unfair and mostly based on his stand-still appearance (read in to that what you would like). I think people see him as the heir appearant to Cole Magner. Magner is a prototypical route runner possesion receiver. Partridge is both quick and fast. Remember that punt return for a TD against Temple with only 10 guys on the field? Partridge could be a deep threat if we decided to open it up and go down field.

As a Lions fans...I can vouch for Calhoun's complete and total lack of talent. Matt Millen has garnered headlines for drafting Charles "CHeech" Rogers, Joey "look...I'm not gay, alright?" Harrington and Mike "I could have sworn I hid some Fritos in my helmet " Williams in the first round, but drafting guys like Calhoun, Shaun Cody, Teddy Lehman and Boss Bailey on the first day has been just as dmaging to the team.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Millen is without a doubt the WORST GM in all of pro sports.

Unfortunately Flipper, MN has the #2 worst in Kevin McHale...

I think they will keep Russell over Haynes. He is younger and Haynes has not shown he can stay healthy.

I have read in a couple spots that Kreider could be gone. This would be a horrible decision. He would be snapped up in no time, most likely by a division team

Dave Littlefield of the Pirates gets my vote.

I had read that too, but after listening to Tomlin's soundbytes this week, I think they realized how bad of a decision that would have been.

Russell v. Haynes is an interesting debate. I'll take Haynes, because I know he would get snapped up immediately. There's a chance Russell could hang out on the PS for a few weeks in case of an injury.

Your right Haynes would be snapped up. Again it would be by a division team. Haynes is probably the best pass blocking back they have, but his history of injuries bothers me.

I hope he appears less smug on TV than Meyer does these days 8)

But my point remains...a spread O guy calling another spread O guy gimmicky doesnt make any sense?!?!

Brandon doesn't come across as too smug, not like Urban. Urban is smug because he's damn good at what he does. Brandon isn't, so doesn't have the same cockiness/attitude.

I didn't see where Brandon actually said your offense was gimmicky though. He's just saying that he doesn't believe your team is going to fully give up the power sets it has feasted on in recent years. He doesn't buy into the fact that you're going to spread the field.
I concur. His statements were that he believes the Gophers will rely on their running game and tight ends. I don't think that is because he thinks spreading the field is a gimmick, but rather he believes that Minnesota is too strong in those areas not to utilize them.

You have to remember that was TEMPLE. The year we beat them 70-7. Not to take anything away from Corey's speed, but a lot of our WR's looked fast compared to TEMPLE that year. Corey is one of the best players on our team, but I don't expect him to be a deep ball threat against a Big Ten team in our offensive system.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I'd be interested in a list of the fastest players on the team and where Corey fits in. I think you might be surprised to see how high up the list he would be.

If Corey is not a deep ball threat on Saturday night, then we don't have a deep ball threat. Cheetam may end up being a downfield threat as the year goes on, but I think that he is out for Saturday.

Can't assume that just because there are mixed opinions on the board about certain players. Kent State tonight gives me hope, seeing as Minnesota is in much of the same boat as Iowa State is, ISU may actually have more talent.

Point being, we obviously won't know until the first kickoff Saturday of how good anyone is. I know it'll be tough to defeat a Big 11 team, but anything is possible in today's college football.

Huh???

Gopher definitely have more talent than ISU. I dont think any solid Big Ten/Big Twelve observer would disagree with that statement...

BTW we pasted Kent State at Kent State, but that was last year...
