I think the shooter and Vick were/are both pieces of s$#t. Both acts were disgusting and cold-blooded. It appears that there's more anger towards Vick because he's a high-profile athlete. Seung-Hui Cho was just a loopy kid who got picked on one too many times and snapped. Plus, he got what he deserved by turning the gun on himself. Can't really scrutinize a dead dude.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Anybody notice that there wasn't nearly as much anger towards the guy that shot up VT and killed a ton of people as there is towards Michael Vick for fighting and killing some dogs?

Very good point, J4H. Half the time the media was portraying that sick SOB as a "victim".Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Anybody notice that there wasn't nearly as much anger towards the guy that shot up VT and killed a ton of people as there is towards Michael Vick for fighting and killing some dogs?

Well, of course. He was "mentally ill," so there should have been at least 14 different government programs established to help the kid deal with it. Unfortunately, the Bush administration allocated all available funds to that illegal and immoral war in Iraq, so those programs were never established. Republicans can be so heartless.Falconfreak90 wrote:Very good point, J4H. It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

Funny how this thread has gone from The Gameday crew at Va. Tech, to hating Beamer for defending Vick, to bashing Vick (which is justified), to protesting the war. Just an observation. I find it a bit humorous how topics transition from one thing to another.Bleeding Orange wrote:Well, of course. How about we get back on track. Eagerly anticipating College GameDay with Herbstreit and Corso. Va. Tech was a tragedy and I hope that football can help ease the pain that a lot of people are feeling down there. Still, I'm not rooting for them to win a National Championship.

I should have noted that my previous post was dripping with wet, gooey sarcasm.San Fran Falcon wrote:Funny how this thread has gone from The Gameday crew at Va. I agree with the way you are looking at this situation, too. I really hope that this year, academically, athletically and socially, will help everyone in Blacksburg to move forward from last year's events, but that doesn't mean that I or anyone else needs to give a darn about their football team. As I do every year with every school (with the exception of one), I wish the Hokies luck.

THANK YOU. Since when is one guy who played awhile ago more associated with a school than something that just happen this year? Since when is dog fighting more brutal than the worst school shooting in American history?Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Anybody notice that there wasn't nearly as much anger towards the guy that shot up VT and killed a ton of people as there is towards Michael Vick for fighting and killing some dogs?
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
different situations. if that ahole cho was still alive they certainly would still be on him, he's dead, we can't do anything else to him now. What do you expect people to do to him now?
I hope vt loses every game and am puking at the thought of them being "America's team"...I'd rather they call the cowboys that again. the tragic even t that happened back in April has zero to do with their athletic department

You can't be angry at people once they're dead? I still think Hitler is a big assface.BGSUVA wrote:different situations. if that ahole cho was still alive they certainly would still be on him, he's dead, we can't do anything else to him now. What do you expect people to do to him now?

It made have had nothing to do with the athletic department, but the Virginia Tech community will use athletics (especially football) to rally, support each other, heal, and attempt to get things back to some type of normal, just as New Yorkers used baseball the same way after 9/11BGSUVA wrote:different situations. if that ahole cho was still alive they certainly would still be on him, he's dead, we can't do anything else to him now. As for this "America's Team" thing, I have not heard a single VT player or coach say "we are america's team." I have heard the media say it, and have heard VT players and coaches say "they are referring to us as america's team"

I expect Vick to be talked about more right now, because he's more recent. What I said is that I don't remember nearly this much general anger at the VT situation as I see/hear all over the place for the Vick deal. It seems to me, that a bigger deal is being made of this dog stuff now than was made about the VT thing then. There's a disconnect I'm just having trouble understanding.BGSUVA wrote:that's not what I'm saying.
Use Hitler as another example, he killed tons of jews, how come people aren't talking about him as much as vick? because vick is the more recent news; because cho isn't around anymore to talk about.
I think maybe it's just because "dog people" are really annoying and overbearing. They stand out when they whine.
Roll Along!
