Congrats from a Gopher fan

Our first game in the Tim Brewster era....proved on age old adage.

You need to play FOUR quarters of football.

We played only two. We were OK in those two, but two wont win a game against a quality opponent.

BG played overall a solid game. There were way too many penalties from your 0-line I thought, but that was the only real slop.

Also a rarity that not one pick in 55 pass attempts. Gophers were SO SO close on so many including at the end of regulation.

If you remember from my earlier posts, I didnt predict a score or win, but I did predict three things, two of which came true:
1)Gophers had over 200 yards rushing
2) BG got some turnovers from our green QB

Congrats on the victory and best of luck the rest of the way!

Thank you for the congratulations. The Gopher Hole is a lonely place tonight. You were a class act from your first post over here. What an entertaining finish to a game. once you guys get that outdoor stadium built and Brewster continues his politicing around campus and town you should be a force to be reckoned with. Also his recruits will help.

Good luck the rest of your season and we'll have a beer for you in the East parking lot when the Gophs come to BG!

Your QB looked very sharp. Managed the game well and took what came to him. He didnt panic or seem to get rattled easily.

He is not mobile but appears to be a better pure passer than Omar Jacobs (or did I just speak sacrilege)? You will definitely make some noise in the MAC. Consider me a fan.

One play I would love to see you guys run, which the Gophs used to, is a pump fake off the bubble screen. You guys ran that bubble screen at least 15 times. What you could do is pump fake it, and have the inside most slot receiver fake the block and run a post. We did that a lot after we lulled them with the bubble. Pump fake it and all of the sudden the inside WR isnt blocking he is downfield

Any thoughts on the Gophers? Honesty is always appreciated.

Don't worry. We love Omar, but that was then. I won't consider it sacriledge. As far as Miami is concerned. I honestly can't tell you much and break things down. All I know is that they are considered one of the upper-echelon teams in the MAC this year. Most pre-season pronosticators had them ranked ahead of us. So, be prepared for a fight next weekend.

On another note, I think it's great when people rooting for the other squad post a message and offer congratulations. Very classy, and it's appreciated. BG lucked out tonight.

I don't know if Tyler had more poise than Omar Jacobs. Maybe you are confusing Omar with AT. But, if that is honestly your opinion, than you are entiteled to it.

I will say that I've never known Miami to be a running team. Against Ball State, they ran the ball decently...but it was against Ball State's defense, and not your's. I don't see them getting much on the ground against you. As for their passing game...well, I cannot recall Miami EVER winning a game without a passing touchdown like they did against Ball State. I wouldn't worry. If Minnesota plays like they did in the 2nd half tonight against Miami, the game will likely be a blow out.

Good luck, and thank you for being such a stand up guy. I must say, I did not see BG winning that game. If you would have played your 2nd half game from the get-go, it would have been different. But, that is football. You made excellent adjustments. You shut our offense completely down until the end. Fortunately, for us, our late scores were enough to win the game. I must say, it was a fun game to watch, and I'm glad our team was able to keep up with you...and even more glad to have won the game. I'm not sure they could do it a second time, but this isn't baseball.

I think we will all be cheering for Minnesota for the rest of the season. Hopefully, you all knock off the buckeyes. I can think of nothing I would like better.

What does Miami of Ohio look like offensively?

First - Miami has traditionally been a running team - like any Midwest team. But like everyone else, they have expanded their attack to passing (last 10 years).

Miami is still rebuilding after losing lots of talent, but things look better this season then last. Our (I went to both schools) reciever corps are getting some positive talk. Kokal is in his second year as QB and should have a better year with some experience under his belt. If memory serves me correctly, Kokal had a great game at Purdue and we should have beat Purdue last year, but had a FG blocked near the end of the game. Brandon Murphy is healthy - a small, fast and quick, agile runner. If the O-line does their job, Brandon will have a great senior year. But many Miami fans are of the opinion we don't have a running game, except for Brandon.

Miami has a very good board with knowledgable posters - much more than I am that is for sure.... You should introduce yourself there.

First, last time Bowling Green beat a Big Ten team this early in the season, our opponent (Purdue) ended up beating Georgia in New Year's Day, I believe.

That was '03.

So, good luck the rest of the way. Make us look good. Certainly, you can beat Michigan, right?

As far as Miami: That will be an interesting game. Ball State continues to improve, and they have one of the best young quarterbacks in our league in Nate Davis. So, that win Thursday was a bit of a statement I thought.

Purdue went 9-3 in the regular season that year. They played in the Capital One Bowl against UGA and LOST in OT 27-34. I was at that game and it was really ugly. UGA was up 27-0 at half, then proceeded to run the HB dive 3 times in a row and punt in the 2nd half. Then in OT they opened it up again, and PU couldnt stop the pass. Sad, but true. At least they beat UT yesterday!

Kudos for your class goph, we really appreciate opposing fans who are intelligent and present themselves and their school in a good, non-biased way. I'm sure by the next few weeks the Gophers will have everything figured out and will enjoy success in Big 11 play. I'll be rooting for you guys all the way this season.
