Too early for predictions? BG at MSU

Post by windycityfalcon »

.... so it's only Monday, but I'm the most excited I've been about a BG in football team in 3 years.
Yes, I'm aware this is one win over a mediocre (at best) Big Ten (11) team, but still....

BG shocks Sparty - 28-26

Sticking with the 2-point theme??? I say we actually play the 2nd half and win it 28-14 then head home as heroes

Well, just from looking at the box score from the MSU/UAB game, it seems as though we may be able to beat them through the air.
If we throw well, and our D steps up...I think we could very well pull out a win.
I'm gonna say BG by a touchdown.

honestly seeing the way MSU did away with UAB, and us beating a Big Ten team, MSU wont be taking us as lightly as maybe minnesota did. That is not to say that we can't beat MSU because I think we can, but MSU is better than Minnesota and it'll be harder to get out on a fast start like we did Saturday. I want to see us win, but Im not sure about us beating two Big Ten teams to start the year on the road. It would be an amazing start to the season if we can, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

MSU - 34

BG - 21

I hope I'm wrong...

Remember BG beat two Big 12 teams in 2002. Actually BG destoyed them. I feel BG can definitely play with them.

MSU's offense is pretty darn good, but UAB has zero skill on defense. As long as our passing offense keeps producing all game long, we're in good shape.

If there's anything you should know about Michigan State, it's that they've had terrible pass coverage since I was in 4th grade (do I ever miss the days of Ray Hill, Amp Campbell and Sorie Kanu). Their first team actually looked pretty good on Saturday (yes, I know it was only UAB, but that's a team that passed for 22k yards last season, not too shabby), but this is where BG can gouge them pretty good. If TS plays like he did a couple days ago, he could roll up 300+ pass yards, 2-3 TDs.

However, MSU is, and has always been, good against the run. Even if we do get out to an early lead, it's probably best to just stay in he air and keep pouring points on.

Defensively, I cannot see us stopping them too often. Some of you may remember Hoyer from his high school days in North Olmstead, but he's turning out to be a hell of a quarterback. He had great preseason workouts and he carried that into Saturday by torching UAB through the air and starting out 10-of-10.

Their run game is as good as any in the country. They've got a great speed-back in Ringer (went to school with AT at CJ in Dayton) and a bruising tailback in Caulcrick. Both had great openers and will have great seasons.

Either BG's run game or defense is have to going to step up big time to get a win. Force a few turnovers, keep the running backs under control and this will be BG's game. I'm just not sure we can do both of those things.

MSU - 24

I think we can pick them apart through the air, and we saw more than a little promise with our pass defense saturday. I think we can get some big plays from them and hold this game together.

I think the points will be turning over like a gas pump at Spurtin Stadium.

FALCONS.

Christopher should put up a friendly wager with Mason. Would be funny to see Mason in one of his old orange and brown sweaters.

Culprit is a good Big 11 RB and I have a feeling Sparty will see the 2nd half of the Gopher game and run the ball down our throats. The offense is good enough to hang with them for 3 quarters, but I feel that Sparty has too much talent for us to hang with them for 60 minutes. Hope I am wrong!

Gotta wait and see the status of Partridge. If he can go, I'll give us a shot. If he's out, we definitely go down.

This game reminds me of BG-Wisc in 2005.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

45-34 BG tops MSU. We carry the momentum from Mini Soda into this game and start out big, but learn from our mistakes from last game and play an entire game BiG.

well.. we have the last hockey team to win in MSU (last regular season CCHA game) AND we have the last women's basketball team to win in MSU (2nd round of the NCAA tourney)..

i see no reason we shouldn't have the last football team to win there too!!
