MSU Predict blowout
After doing a little lurking on an MSU message board, which my the way is far less organized and visually appealing than AZZ.. it appears that despite our win last week, that most State fans are expecting to blow us off the field.
There are a few posts that include "don't forget what BG did last week..."-type comments, but not many.. and most score predictions have us losing by three or even four touchdowns

We're going to have to put up big offensive number this week if we can't hang with them on run D.
They're awfully confident, given how truly bad UAB is, but I can't say I blame them. By all accounts, MSU *should* be able to run the ball at will. If we can hold up at all on the ground, and get a good game from the offense (in both halves), we have a good shot to win.
Can Smith and Lewis cover 1-1 on the outside so the physical safeties can help with the run? We have to do something scheme-wise to slow down a power running game.

If Slappy was still the coach your post would be 100% on.JoeFalcon wrote:These are people who saw their head coach literally slap himself across the face last year, so their momentary overconfidence after a blowout of UAB is somewhat understandable.
We can only hope that their players share the same attitude and underestimate BG on Saturday.
I can promise you this, Mark Dantonio will have his team ready to play this weekend. If BG wins, it will be because you are the better team because you will not surprise us. We have way too much respect for you...especially after we passed on your former coach to hire Cowboy

I think what we are seeing on both sides of this matchup are two groups of fans who's teams are both coming off of disappointing seasons, are bolstered by big wins in the opening week of the season and extremely optomistic about the future of their respective programs. I don't think any of us know for sure how good or bad our teams are yet, but you can't blame anyone in Bowling Green or East Lansing for being excited and up-beat about this game.MichState04 wrote:If Slappy was still the coach your post would be 100% on.JoeFalcon wrote:These are people who saw their head coach literally slap himself across the face last year, so their momentary overconfidence after a blowout of UAB is somewhat understandable.

Win or lose, this should be a fun game. I'm looking forward to the trip north on Saturday (and we don't normally say that around here - that usually means a trip to the correctional university in Toledo). I had a great time at the women's regional earlier this year, and you all treated us BG fans very well.

Oh, I know. Dantonio is like the Anti-Smith. I'm sure he'll have his players expecting a battle.MichState04 wrote:If Slappy was still the coach your post would be 100% on.JoeFalcon wrote:These are people who saw their head coach literally slap himself across the face last year, so their momentary overconfidence after a blowout of UAB is somewhat understandable.

Wow. After reading for 2 minutes this is patently false. Almost every prediction called for a pasting.MichState04 wrote:http://www.spartantailgate.com/forums. Again, I can't fault you guys for predicting a blowout, but it's most definitely a very confident time in EL. Not too many people expecting a battle. I'm not sure yet whether I expect one or not.

They couldn't be more different my friend. The attention to detail, discipline, professionalism...all you have to do is watch a press conf. from each coach. Hiring JLS was the stupidest thing that MSU football has done in modern history.JoeFalcon wrote:Oh, I know. Dantonio is like the Anti-Smith. Don't get me wrong, Spartan Fans expect to win this game, but that doesn't mean we are overlooking BG. I know a lot of Spartans think this will be our biggest test until we play in Madison.
What does it matter; if I was a Michigan State fan I would expect a blowout too because, I am a fan of that team. Just like we (as Falcon fans) expect BG to be close or win because we are BG fans. It all depends on you perspective. So it looks like we will just have to wait till Saturday dont we. So why is everyone getting so offended. Some of us are acting like we beat Michigan last week (for those who need to know that was Appalachian State). BG has nothing to lose from this game; all we can do is gain. SO WHO CARES WHAT MICHIGAN STATE FANS THINK? For one I for sure dont care what Sparty or the whole Spartian message board thinks, because if they lose it's a shame for them. And if we lose everyone will expect it. So FALCON UP! LETS WHOOP UP ON DEM SPARTIANS!!! 8)

Well, so far I've seen zero BG fans get offended by the notion that MSU fans are expecting a laugher. So I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.

MS04 has been very kind to us and I would expect the fans of Sparta want a big, big win considering their disappointments last year. I simply hope our team doesn't not come out shaky after the big win this past weekend. We need to settle in and battle. I really believe we can play them tough and even beat them but this will require execution of the offense and ST's along with considerable improvement on defense against the run. We should all realize our weakness against their strength is where the game will be decided.
I like the old Doyt Perry speech that went along the lines of - they could blow us out, we could blow them out or it could be one heck of a game (those in the know can provide the real quote) because this game could go any of those three directions.

I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
