Just like last week, I'm predicting a BGSU win! This time 35-31, on the strength of our reinvigorated offense! Corey Partridge will ball up and try to play, Bullock will get a few more carries and Winovich will knock some Spartans down! Look for Briggs to wreak havoc in the backfield and for Dozier to light some unsuspecting Spartan up!

"Basketball on grass" continues its comeback! Plenty of Freddy on 7 yard slants, Bullock and Ransom convert on 2nd or 3rd and short. Verve hits on 3 FG's.

I love the win against Minnesota. I have to wonder if we would have won if Minny wasn't attempting to implement a totally new offensive scheme. If Minnesota started with a power run game, I think the outcome would have been different.

I have MSU winning this but I don't think it's going to be by 18pts.

Since my prediction was so good last week, I'll go with:
MSU: 62
BG: 03*

*Before you get on my schit, please reference my last prediction. My desire is to be wrong.

That is a good point. Minny has the players to run a pro-set offense, but new coach Brewster was hell bent on cramming the spread down their throats. We tried this in the Big Ten and it didn't work so I am thrilled to see them running this offense!

It can work fine in the Big 10 if you've got the right personnel. Minny doesn't have a QB that can throw the ball.

OSU last year used mostly the spread all season. Purdue & Northwestern have both used it forever to some success.

Minnesota should line it up and run the ball, because their QB is awful.

Agreed. The whole point of the spread is to get your best players the ball in open space. For Minnesota their QB can't get them the ball & other than Wheelwright, the WR's aren't the best players!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

BG's O-Line
LT 6'5 300 (Sr)
LG 6'3 302 (So)
C 6'3 300 (Sr)
RG 6'2 285 (Jr)
RT 6'5 290 (Sr)
Average 6'3.6 295.4

MSU's D-Line
E 6'1 255 (Sr)
DT 6'5 258 (Jr)
NT 6'4 290 (Sr)
E 6'2 270 (Sr)
Average 6'3 268.3

BG's O-Line outweighs MSU's D-Line by an average of 27.1 pounds per person.

MSU's O-Line
LT 6'7 312 (Sr)
LG 6'5 325 (Sr)
C 6'3 295 (So)
RG 6'5 328 (Jr)
RT 6'6 312 (Jr)
Average 6'5.2 314.4

BG's D-Line

NG 6'3 270 (So)
DT 6'4 270 (Sr)
E 6'3 260 (So)
Average 6'3.5 257.5

BG's D-Line is out weighed by an average of 56.9 pounds per person...that's what scares me with MSU's good backs (Ringer - 5'9 200 and Caulcrick - 6'0 255).

I know this doesn't mean everything, but it scares me with the way MSU runs the ball.

duckunder53:

That always seems to be the case - our D-Line is dwarfed by Big Tenleven O-lines.

Some of you may remember Hoyer from his high school days in North Olmstead, but he's turning out to be a hell of a quarterback. He had great preseason workouts and he carried that into Saturday by torching UAB through the air and starting out 10-of-10.
OK just a pet peeve - It is North Olmsted. No "A"

second - Where did hoyer go to HS?

That QB from Minnesota is going to give up some looooong TD's on INT's. He floated a couple lollipops to the sidelines on outs...

Michigan State has done pretty well recruiting against the MAC...Dantonio did pretty well recruiting against the MAC at UC too...so the talent on hand is a cut above what we have on hand, but so was the talent at Minnesota...

I think MSU takes it 28-24

No they didn't. They used it against Michigan and surprise, suprise...it worked, but for the vast majority of the season, the spread was only an occasional seasoning to their offensive steak and potatoes which was the run to set up the pass. Teams that mostly use the spread (like Michigan State last season) tend to pass more (or at least as much) than they run and OSU had over 130 more rush attempts last season than they had pass attempts.

I am drinking the Kool-Aid (R).

BG- 34

MSU- 28

I know MSU has a new coach, but reading some of the comments, the win has done wonders for the confidence. ST's will hold up two field goals. Two TD passes and two by runs. Lewis will have another pick.
