Help against the run....
For us do a bit better job vs the run at MSU we can't have Big Michael Ream on the sidelines wearin' a bright orange shirt (nice choice though) like last game. I don't know what he was out with but I hope he can go this Sat.

Barring any public injuries, it'll probably stay within 2-3. However, I wouldn't touch this game with a 10 ft. pole. I'd be more likely to put my money on Akron beating the spread against anOSU.BGSUCane wrote:I'm thinking about putting a lil bit of cash on BG with bodog

I'm not touching this game. MSU looked all world against a horrid UAB team. Not sure how that will translate against other opponents.
BG, Sheehan specifically, looked really good last week. I want to see another game or two from him before I determine my BG betting strategy.
Like Drew said, I wouldn't touch this game. What's the OSU/Akron spread? I could see that game being within 15 points, but I haven't looked at the spreads just yet. If it's in the 17-20 range, I think I'd put some money on it.

OSU only beat freaking YOUNGSTOWN STATE by 32...I cannot see them blowing out Akron by that much.
Definitely putting some cash on UA for that one...fear the roo baby

It's not that they couldn't, but Tressel generally doesn't run up the score, at least not against out of conference opponents (I think I remember a 44-0 against Indiana last year, no way Indiana was worse than us). Remember last year we were something like 35 pt dogs in our game against them where we lost by 20something. That's why I hate betting college football. So many of these games are "Will they run up the score? If so, by how much?".hammb wrote:29!?Jacobs4Heisman wrote:29. Easy money.hammb wrote:I'm not touching this game. Then again I'm currently leading the AZZ Yahoo College Pick 'em
Finally a senior!
Tressel doesn't run up the score against anyone. He's notoriously bad about covering the spread.

That's not the case at all. OSU had an amazing stretch for a while (that I think BG broke) of covering the spread when favored. It was up to the mid-teens in a row.BGDrew wrote:Tressel doesn't run up the score against anyone. He's notoriously bad about covering the spread.
The thing is, Tressel calls of the dogs early against other Ohio schools. Add on top of that the fact that OSU is not quite as good this year as they have been, and Akron should be better than expected, and you have a very safe bet.

Dangit. I was for sure going to bet some money on OSU to cover over Akron (its 25pts where I go). But listening to you guys talk has made me chicken out of that one! You effers better be right!

The Tressel family has been involved in HS and college football for a long tme inthe stat of Ohio. Jim will not run up the score on another Ohio school...that's not to say you won't have a team quit against them like Temple quit on us recently. You can hand the ball off and run it up the gut but if the defense has decided they're done tackling for the day there isn't much you can do to hold things in check.
I don't see Akron quitting like that, so I'd pick them to beat that spread.
This is a big game and a big season for JD Brookhart....Akron won a weakened MAC East in 2005 but backslid last year. Brookhart needs to start putting something other than 7-5 and 5-7 seasons up or he'll face the same fate as Lee Owens

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
After what OSU didn't do against YSU, I'd say that's as easy money as you're going to make betting this week. There's a lot of trap games this week.BGSUFootballFan wrote:Dangit. Absolutely, Flip. I'm getting annoyed and tired of the Akron Beacon Journal making Brookhart out to be an excellent coach. And they keep stating UA has brought in the best recruiting class in the MAC 3 years running. Really? Why aren't they 10-2 then? I am not convinced JD will make it and they just gave him a FIVE year extension last year. They won the MAC in 2005 cuz the planets lined up for them. New stadium in 2009 is nice but that doesn't guarantee winning teams.Flipper wrote:This is a big game and a big season for JD Brookhart....Akron won a weakened MAC East in 2005 but backslid last year. Who said Akron had the top class? Everything I've read has given that honor to Temple. Regardless, you're right. J.D. has had an awfully long honeymoon in Akron.Falconfreak90 wrote:And they keep stating UA has brought in the best recruiting class in the MAC 3 years running. Really? Why aren't they 10-2 then?
