The commuter lot is WAY south of the campus. It's right next to the USDA center.

Yes, but they have busses to and from the stadium.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

I think my group is planning on that Lot Drew was talking about. There's 18 of us students, so that could fill up with Orange & Brown quickly. We're hoping to get there around 9.

I think we'll still check in Lot N first and if there isn't any room in the inn, move down to the commuter lot.

LOL! I guess I better charge it and take it with me. For a guy like me on the phone all day at work, I like to stay away from phones while not on duty. ;) Ask Falcon Fanatic!

So I've heard!

Do any of you know what the hotel situation around Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti might be on a Friday before a Michigan home game? I'm trying to find a hotel kinda halfway between BG and East Lansing so that we have a shorter drive in the morning. There don't seem to be a whole lot of hotels around Ypsi, and I certainly don't think I want to screw around in Ann Arbor in the morning. If anyone has any ideas for that general area, I'd love to hear them.

You would be best to take US-23 north past AA then hit I-96 West...you will find some hotels right near 23/96...exit 145 I believe is Brighton...that is your best bet. I wouldn't stay anywhere near Ann Arbor and the 'Big Hole'...even though they got embarrassed by I-AA Appie State, they still should pack in 50-60k..which will fill up the hotels there  . Although you might find a nice crackhouse in Ypsi...at least the room rates will be low. :-D

So the commuter lot for BG then???

Or are we aiming for lot M, or is it N? We're only two days off, I need to know where to go. We're probably going to get there at no later than nine.
Yeah right girl!

I'm with Freak's plan. Check out Lot N first then if that's full head for the commuter lot.

Thats cool. After finding out that most of Michigan along 23 is little more than a wasteland as far as hotels go, we decided to book a room at the same Red Roof in you are staying at. We were going to go to my alma mater's (high school) game against Libbey tommorow night, but since there isn't much available along the way we are going to skip it. We're going to leave Cleveland around 4:30 tommorow, go to BG to pick up my brother, and then high-tail it to Lansing. That should make for a much less hectic morning on Saturday considering our other option was to leave Cleveland around 5:30 AM!

Edited to add: I'll give you a ring when we are on our way up.

I found this on that website about tailgating at MSU.

------------------------
Shuttle bus service is available from Lot 89 at the corner of Mt. Hope Road and Farm Lane. The shuttle starts two hours before the game and returns for a reasonable amount of time after the game. The cost is $3 per game for a round trip ticket or $21 for a season pass. Parking is free.
------------------------

So what is a reasonable amount of time after the game? 1 or 2 hours? I always wait for the players to come out of the locker room, will the shuttle be finished running by then?
